    Swansea 0-0 Cardiff

There are plenty of former Swans in the home crowd today, among them Wales midfielder Joe Allen and Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie.

John Toshack, who served both clubs admirably, is also in attendance.

It would be a big loss for Cardiff if Morrison had to go off. There's no sign of a substitute warming up. He's got one wrist bandaged and he's holding the other wrist. He might need help eating his dinner tonight.

An early break in play as Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison receives treatment after an aerial challenge.

It did not look too serious but he has been down for a while.

Since the resumption in 2008 there's been a sprinkling of red cards, there's been controversy, there's been goals and it all adds up to a potent mix on this Sunday lunchtime.

  6. First effort of the daypublished at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea 0-0 Cardiff

The first shot of the day comes from Cardiff.

Predictably, perhaps, it stems from a deep set-piece which dropped to Sean Morrison, but his low drive was easily saved by Freddie Woodman in the Swansea goal.

  7. It's loud at the Libertypublished at 12:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea 0-0 Cardiff

Both sets of fans are in fine voice early on, as you might expect.

On the pitch, Swansea have had most of the ball early on but have been unable to do anything with it.

Both managers will be under pressure - the one that loses today - because Swansea are already on a bad run and Cardiff are not quite getting the results, they're just ticking over

If anyone was worried about the rugby result diminishing the atmosphere at the Liberty Stadium, they needn't have worried.

It is a crackling atmosphere in the Liberty Stadium, a proper derby din.

The PA announcer is playing Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and that sets the scene nicely.

This game for me is going to go one of two ways; if there's an early goal I feel Swansea will go on to win it, but if it's a deadlock I can see Cardiff pinching a goal late in the game. It's on a knife edge

  13. Two up top for Cardiff?published at 11:52 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea v Cardiff

The suggestion is that Cardiff will start with two central strikers this afternoon - something they have not done in the Championship this season.

Danny Ward has been in fine form of late and boss Neil Warnock looks to have opted to pair him with Robert Glatzel in attack.

Cardiff are without Junior Hoilett and Lee Tomlin through injury, meaning Gavin Whyte and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing start on the flanks.

Swansea, meantime, have picked Andre Ayew to lead the line for the first time this season, with veterans Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge either side of him.

In an ideal world, perhaps, Ben Wilmot's first league start for Swansea City would not have come in the south Wales derby.

But the 19-year-old is in at the deep end today as he plays at the heart of Steve Cooper's defence in the absence of the injured Joe Rodon.

Wilmot has started twice in the League Cup for Swansea, but has had just 22 minutes of Championship action since joining on a season-long loan from Watford.

The England Under-21 man does have some big-game experience, having played against the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan during a loan spell at Italian side Udinese last season.

  17. The south Wales derby without any Welshman startingpublished at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 GMT)

    Michael Pearlman
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

With Wales defenders Joe Rodon and Connor Roberts both absent from the Swansea starting XI, we do not have a single Welshman playing for either side in the derby.

Will Vaulks, a Cardiff sub, is the only Welsh player in the Bluebirds' match-day squad, while Roberts and Ben Cabango are on the bench for the hosts.

  19. Two enforced changes for Bluebirdspublished at 11:33 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Swansea v Cardiff (12:00 GMT)

Cardiff City make two changes from the side who drew 2-2 at Millwall, though both changes are enforced on manager Neil Warnock.

Winger Junior Hoilett and midfielder Lee Tomlin are both injured, so Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Robert Glatzel earn recalls.

Cardiff City XI: Neil Etheridge, Lee Peltier, Joe Bennett, Sean Morrison, Aden Flint, Joe Ralls, Robert Glatzel, Marlon Pack, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Gavin Whyte, Danny Ward.

Subs: Alex Smithies, Will Vaulks, Leandro Bacuna, Josh Murphy, Callum Paterson, Curtis Nelson, Omar Bogle

  20. Swansea make six changes from Brentford losspublished at 11:33 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October 2019

    Michael Pearlman

Swansea make six changes from the side beaten 3-0 at home by Brentford in midweek.

Ben Wilmot will make his full league debut in place of the injured Joe Rodon.

Fellow Wales international Connor Roberts is dropped and replaced by Kyle Naughton, while there are also recalls for George Byers, Nathan Dyer, Wayne Routledge and Bersant Celina.

Andre Ayew will play as Swansea's central striker.

Swansea City XI: Freddie Woodman; Kyle Naughton, Mike van der Hoorn, Ben Wilmot, Jake Bidwell; George Byers, Matt Grimes (captain); Nathan Dyer, Bersant Celina, Wayne Routledge; Andre Ayew.

Subs: Kristoffer Nordfeldt, Connor Roberts, Ben Cabango, Jay Fulton, Kristoffer Peterson, Sam Surridge, Borja Baston.
