    Manchester City 4-0 West Ham

    Ellen WhiteImage source, Rex Features

A one-sided 45 minutes of football as Manchester City have assumed complete control of this game.

Once Ellen White broke the deadlock, the floodgates opened as Georgia Stanway struck twice and Lauren Hemp netted her first goal of the season.

Such has been City's dominance, West Ham are probably happy they only trail by four.

  2. WSL City's top priority now?published at 44 mins

    Manchester City 4-0 West Ham

Man City won seven straight games to start the season but then a Continental Cup loss to city rivals United and a WSL defeat to champions Arsenal came sandwiched in between a Champions League elimination over two legs to Atletico Madrid.

That was a run of reversals a side as used to success as City are pretty unfamiliar with.

The European exit has left regaining their WSL crown at the top of City's priority list and they know the margins of error are slim: Nick Cushing's side lost only once in 20 league games last season and even that was not enough to deny Arsenal the title.

  3. 'West Ham fragmented'published at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 4-0 West Ham

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Red Button

    Jill ScottImage source, Rex Features

Jill Scott does so well there with the feint on the shot and the reverse ball to pick out Lauren Hemp.

But once again West Ham are all at sea from the pull back.

West Ham haven't laid a glove on City. They just look so fragmented in what they want to try and do in and out of possession.

  4. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Manchester City 4-0 West Ham

A brief reprieve for West Ham as they threaten City's box for the first time in what seems an age.

Adriana Leon's deflected shot loops up and Kate Longhurst wins the header but City keeper Ellie Roebuck claims with a Hammers attacker loitering.

  5. goal

GOAL: Manchester City 4-0 West Hampublished at 39 mins

    Lauren Hemp

I said they could have as many as they want. And it seems they want a hatful as Lauren Hemp picks her spot.

Janine Beckie is again involved, her low cross finding Jill Scott who shapes to shoot and dummies about three West Ham defenders in the process.

That leaves Hemp all alone and Scott's reverse ball leaves her with a simple finish, although Hammers keeper Anna Moorhouse did get a touch to it.

  6. 'Outnumbered and outclassed'published at 13:11 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 3-0 West Ham

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Red Button

    Georgia StanwayImage source, Rex Features

That's a wonderful strike from Georgia Stanway with the confidence to take that on first time.

City are just causing West Ham so many problems in those wide areas that they just have no answer.

They just looked outnumbered and outclassed at the moment

  7. goal

GOAL: Manchester City 3-0 West Hampublished at 37 mins

    Georgia Stanway

Almost an identikit strike from Georgia Stanway. City could have as many as they want here.

All West Ham's woes are coming down their left. Janine Beckie has them on toast and her pull-back finds Stanway, who scores from the same spot that she netted her second, albeit off the post this time.

  8. Watch: White's openerpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 2-0 West Ham

It's been all Manchester City since Ellen White's opener, which you can watch below...

  9. 'Great moment for Stanway'published at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 2-0 West Ham

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Red Button

Great moment for Georgia Stanway on her return from injury with the goal, but brilliant work again from Man City in the build-up.

They just work it and work it around the space on the edge of the box until someone is clear in that position to take the shot.

West Ham have got to do something here to break the momentum and make this more of a contest.

  10. goal

GOAL: Manchester City 2-0 West Hampublished at 32 mins

    Georgia Stanway

What a fine way for Georgia Stanway to bring up a century of City appearances.

Lovely build-up play involving Jill Scott and Ellen White and the latter's short pass finds Stanway, who drills across Anna Moorhouse into the bottom corner from around 15 yards.

It's hard to think that isn't game over.

  11. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

How is this still only 1-0?

Ellen White could have had a hat-trick.

In fairness, she's on the stretch here to meet Tessa Wullaert's cross but can only divert it over.

  12. 'West Ham have no answer'published at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Red Button

We're seeing whatever side the Man City corner comes in from, it should almost be a goal between Ellen White and Steph Houghton.

West Ham seem to have no answer for how to deal with the delivery and their threat in the air.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 28 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

I'm running out of fingers to count the number of corners City have had, will need to take my socks off soon.

West Ham are insistent on playing out from the back which is admirable but they are putting themselves under pressure as a result.

The Hammers' Kenza Dali picks up the game's first booking for tugging back Georgia Stanway, who is making her 100th City appearance today.

  14. CHANCE!published at 26 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

Ellen White will be disappointed with that one.

Caroline Weir's free-kick finds her unmarked near the penalty spot but she gets too little on her glancing header and West Ham clear for a corner.

From that corner the Hammers are all at sea but Laura Vetterlein hacks clear over her own bar.

  15. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

City are piling on the pressure here.

England skipper Steph Houghton's 30-yard free-kick is turned wide by Hammers keeper Anna Moorhouse, who is then worked again by Jill Scott's header from the ensuing corner.

  16. 'We're yet to see any West Ham aggression'published at 12:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

    Laura Bassett
Former England defender on BBC Red Button

Man City v West HamImage source, Rex Features

It's difficult to see how West Ham can create anything here other than from Man City mistakes in possession.

We're yet to really see any aggression coming forward from them. They need to keep hold of the ball more to give themselves chances to get up the pitch more.

We've not even seen an aggressive tackle from them yet.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

Ah, the life of a goalkeeper.

Anna Moorhouse shows admirable alertness to cut out Janine Beckie's cross for Ellen White but then blots her copybook by throwing straight to Caroline Weir.

Fortunately for Moorhouse and West Ham, Weir's attempted chip is errant and goes wide. Let-off.

  18. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

West Ham will hope they have slightly ridden out the storm here and they have the ball in City's half for the first time in a while.

White's goal has certainly taken the wind out of their sails though.

  19. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

Manchester City force what seems like their umpteenth corner of the opening stages.

This one comes to nothing but it's all City here and only a brave man would bet against them going top of the Women's Super League, temporarily at least.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16 mins

    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

Well, that really should have been a penalty for City.

West Ham struggle to deal with another corner and Jill Scott's strike hits the outstretched arm of former City midfielder Tessel Middag.

City appeal but referee Stacey Pearson waves them away.

What would VAR made of that one?
