    Manchester City 1-0 West Ham

West Ham are at sixes and sevens now, that opening goal has rocked them.

Janine Beckie has acres of space on the right wing to deliver a cross to Lauren Hemp, who has even more space at the far post.

However, she cannot judge her free header and loops it over. A let-off for West Ham but now City have earned another corner....

  2. 'White can smell the next goal'published at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

That was City's first corner of the game and West Ham looked quite comfortable.

But it just shows the value of being threatening from set pieces and we know the quality of deliver Caroline Weir possesses.

Ellen White can always smell where the next goal is coming from and she pounces quickly in those sort of situations.

  3. goal

GOAL: Manchester City 1-0 West Hampublished at 11 mins

    Ellen White

Ellen White - goal poacher extraordinaire!

The England striker shows her predatory instincts, in exactly the right place at the right time to fire home from inside the six-yard box.

It was a poor goal to concede from a West Ham viewpoint. Jill Scott won a header virtually unchallenged from a corner and her effort struck Gilly Flaherty on the line, falling perfectly for White.

  4. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

Another great run from City winger Janine Beckie, who looks lively down the hosts' right wing.

Ellen White thought she had a sniff a few minutes ago but Gilly Flaherty snuffed her run out.

  5. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

Brilliant delivery from Katharina Baunach on that corner, whipping it right into the six-yard box.

City skipper Steph Houghton cleared it well but that was an inviting ball and should have had a West Ham shirt attacking it.

  6. Zinchenko's rallying crypublished at 6 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

Oleksandr Zinchenko is certainly pumped for today's game...

Can City live up to his wishes?

Well, Demi Stokes has given away a free-kick midway inside her own half. And now City concede a corner. Promising start from the Hammers.

  7. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

The first moment of danger for West Ham as Janine Beckie slaloms into the area from the right, reaching the byline.

However, West Ham skipper Gilly Flaherty is well positioned to clear the Man City winger's pull-back.

  8. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

Our TV cameras - this game is live on the Red Button, don't forget - picked up hot water bottles being shared on the visitors' bench before kick-off.

It is a chilly day and a couple of players are wearing gloves (not just the goalkeepers...)

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:32 Greenwich Mean Time 17 November 2019

    Manchester City 0-0 West Ham

Referee Stacey Pearson blows the whistle and Manchester City get us under way.

Manchester City v West Ham (12:30 GMT)

    West Ham manager Matt Beard:

"We're expecting a tough game of course. Man City are a good side, but we're looking forward to getting started.

"We're looking for that consistency as we've been close this season and excellent in many games.

"It's always going to take a bit of time to gel with the changes we've made in the past two transfer windows, but we're getting there."

    Man City manager Nick Cushing:

"We know it will be a tough game and we expect it to be a tough test against West Ham.

"They've improved and signed good players since last season.

"This league went to the wire last season and I expect it to be just as competitive this season."

We could have a change of leadership a couple of times this afternoon.

Chelsea start the afternoon a point ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City with City having the chance to go top early on if they get a win against West Ham.

The Gunners meanwhile travel to north London neighbours Tottenham while Chelsea will hope to hold on to top spot with a win against in-form Manchester United.

At the other end of the table, Liverpool, Brighton and Bristol City are all looking for their first wins of the campaign.

Manchester City v West Ham (12:30 GMT)

England striker Ellen White starts for the first time in a Man City shirt in a WSL fixture.

She bagged her first goal for the club after her summer move from Birmingham City against her former club in the Continental Cup a couple of weeks ago.

Steph Houghton skippers the hosts after taking a break from international duty in midweek.

West Ham include midfielder Tessa Middag who comes up against her former club for the first time after injury last season denied her the chance, including at Wembley in the FA Cup final.

Matt Beard's side have a bit of a shortage on the bench with only four subs named.

Man City XI: Roebuck, Beckie, Houghton (capt), Bonner, Stokes, Scott, Weir, Wullaert, Stanway, Hemp, White.

Subs: Benameur, Campbell, Bremer, Toland, Park, Geum-Min, Fidalgo.

West Ham XI: Moorhouse, Reddish Kvamme, Flaherty (capt), Vetterlein, Baunach, Middag, Longhurst, Dali, Lehmann, Leon, Kiernan.

    Subs: Brosnan, Hendrix, Galabadaarachchi, Kiszkis.
