Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, speaking to Sky Sports: "Every win is a big moment. Of course we want to win the title but it's too early to speak about it.

"They scored first but I was thinking in my own mind we were going to come back. We deserved to win. To be honest I think it was a clear penalty."

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were very competitive. I think we suffered in the first half - they were better than us. i think we defended well and the team was very committed.

"I don't think it is the belief. We have the belief and the confidence. We need to dominate the game more and play better with the players we had on the pitch."

On the penalty: "I've got no complaints. We can say nothing."

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp says Mohamed Salah came off with a sore ankle but "it's not a massive issue".

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Harry Kane, speaking to Sky Sports: "Liverpool are getting those little breaks at the moment. It hurts to lose but we have to dust ourselves down.

"We made a great result but we dropped a little deep and soaked up the pressure. We had a big chance just after half time to go 2-0 up but unfortunately it hit the bar.

"We didn't try and play as much as we liked. If we could have played a bit more we could have created even more more chances for ourselves and finished the game off. We came out with the intention to play and press, and we did everything to try and win the game.

"Whenever you lose a game, it is never a step forward. Our league form has not been good enough."

Liverpool

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson, speaking to Sky Sports: "After 48 seconds I was thinking it was my fault because I gave the ball away for their goal. Thankfully I managed to get a goal to make up for it.

"I'm just delighted for the three points. We were hanging on a little bit. In the first half I thought we played really well. The keeper made some great saves.

"Our mentality has improved. That's grown over the last few years and the gaffer has changed that so much.

"We have faced adversity at times. It's not always going to go your own way."

Aaron: On the balance of it, Liverpool deserved the win. Spurs looked a little bereft of confidence, like they didn't believe they could go and attack Liverpool and genuinely beat them.

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay: "We needed a performance today. We should have beaten Liverpool last week. We've put in a 90-minute performance. When we're on it, we’re on it. Hopefully we can get some winning momentum."

On the front three of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James:

"It's frightening coming up against a trio like that. It’s a three with tremendous potential. It’s important for your strikers to be firing. We’ve got to speak about that [the missed penalties] in the dressing room and put it right."

On scoring Manchester United's 2,000th Premier League:

"I knew about that record before the game, it’s nice. It's a brilliant achievement to score in the Premier League. I just want to repay the manager’s faith. I’m delighted with three points and it’s important the team played well."

Liverpool had to dig deep. A good start from Tottenham, we have seen flashes of a much better team performance than has been seen of late. Liverpool stuck at their task, they created several opportunities and they probably deserved the win. Spurs came back late in the game but it was a little bit too late. Full credit to Liverpool to create the amount of opportunities. It was a fantastic game of football.

All over, what a game. A point apiece after Palace recover from 2-0 down.

Wilfried Zaha was breaking away after Palace cleared that corner and Matteo Guendouzi grabs Zaha's shirt and pulls him down. That would look out of place at the Rugby World Cup.

Both sets of players come together and eventually Martin Atkinson restored order before booking Guendouzi.

And it is all kicking off.
