  2. 'We were not offered an acceptable deal for Zaha'published at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

Crystal Palace v Leicester (14:00 GMT)

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, speaking about Wilfried Zaha and the summer transfer request on BBC 5 Live: “Wilfried Zaha has been out doing loads of foundation work for the last two weeks. This is someone who has a strong affinity with the club and he is an extremely good person. He loves the fans, he loves the club.

"These things happen in football, he is aware of that. We want to look after him as best we can but I know he will always do the best for this football club. There is no surprise to us. Of course the manager, players and staff all contribute to that. The fans and the relationship he has with them. But it all comes down to him being a good person.

"You say a transfer request came in but let’s pass on that. It was no secret that Wilfried would like to further his career – possibly with a Champions League club and that is a discussion I have had with Wilfried. A Champions League club did not offer us anything like the kind of money that would be acceptable to any football club. I don’t think anybody thought it was an amount of money that was acceptable so the player did not leave.

"Every transfer window there is a chance to buy and sell players. I do not have a crystal ball, I do not know what is going to happen. There will be circumstances where it will be the right move for Wilfried and the football club and there will be circumstances when it won’t be and that will be down to the state the club is in at the time and the situation of the buying club."

Thirty minutes to go until kick off. Here's a reminder of the teams.

Crystal Palace make two changes to the XI that started in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

Vicente Guaita returns from a groin injury and replaces Wayne Hennessey in goal. Winger Andros Townsend has failed to recover from a muscle problem and is replaced by Jeffrey Schlupp.

A goalkeeper scoring a last-minute equaliser? You love to see it.

That's what almost happened yesterday as Ben Foster was denied a stunning headed equaliser in stoppage time as Chelsea hung on for victory at Watford.

"If I score at the end that's me retiring," Foster told Match of the Day afterwards. "Fair play to Kepa - that was some save."

  7. Fan who won 5,000-1 title bet backs Foxes againpublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

A fan whose bet netted him £20,000 when Leicester City won the Premier League as 5,000-1 outsiders has backed them to win the title again this season.

But this time Leigh Herbert had to make do with "measly" odds of 300-1 on the Foxes to repeat their fairytale triumph of three years ago.

Herbert, 41, believes the current squad - currently fourth in the table - is at least as good as the one that triumphed in 2016.

"Liverpool or Man City might prove to be too strong for us, but you never know," carpenter Herbert told BBC Sport. "There's definitely the same kind of buzz around Leicester."

My wife and I saw Claudio Ranieri chatting outside a Notting Hill restaurant last year. I then noticed he was chatting to Antonio Conte. Two ex Chelsea mangers (!), so my son being a Chelsea fan, my wife initiated a photo with them (they were both charming). It was only after she said she hadn't recognised Conte - fortunately she didn't ask him to stand out of the way!

  11. Are Rodgers' side better than Ranieri's title winners?published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 3 November 2019

Crystal Palace v Leicester (14:00 BST)

Leicester near the top of the Premier League table. Where have we heard that one before?

Brendan Rodgers' Foxes have had a flying start to the season - sitting third after 10 games - and it is bringing back memories of their famous title-winning season under Claudio Ranieri in 2015-16.

By most metrics, they are better now than they were at the same stage that season. So how do the two teams compare? And could Leicester actually challenge for this year's title?

You can understand why Palace are reluctant to let Wilfred Zaha go. His price will continue to rise considering his ability.

Leicester have massive potential to finish in the top four.

Brendan Rodgers understand the squad, there’s so much development throughout this team, and he also knows the value of Vardy and playing around him.

And they are exciting to watch: they are punishing teams and that's the right reward for the type of manager Brendan Rodgers is.

Crystal Palace v Leicester (14:00 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Leicester sitting third in the Premier League table will probably have raised fewer eyebrows than Crystal Palace being in sixth - but both sides will be delighted with how the first 10 games have gone.

For Palace, the key has been being tough to beat. They don't score too many - but that might come when Wilfried Zaha gets back to his best, and when (or if) Christian Benteke's long drought ends.

Scoring is obviously not much of an issue for Leicester - Jamie Vardy has six in his last four games, James Maddison four in five in all competitions, Youri Tielemans three in three and Ayoze Perez got a hat-trick in the last league outing.

So good has Leicester's start been that they have more points now than at this stage of the 2016 title-winning season.

For a manager under the microscope, Marco Silva can feel aggrieved he is unable to show three straight wins to those who analyse Everton's recent form.

The controversial VAR decision last week was a significant turning point in their defeat by Brighton, which has kept them hovering above the relegation zone.

Silva remains under scrutiny and certainly the pressure would have intensified had Everton not progressed to the last eight of the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Some have also questioned Mauricio Pochettino this season, with Spurs struggling to find any consistency as they underachieve.

Despite reaching the Champions League final, Tottenham's overall form in 2019 has been patchy. But they have a good record against Everton as they seek to end their alarming away form by claiming three league points on the road for the first time since January.
