  1. Everton pace has droppedpublished at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

Everton, predictably, were fast and aggressive early but the tempo has dropped now and Chelsea are looking more dangerous.

    Neither defence looking secure.

Abraham again, but his attempted header in the box to a cross from deep comes off his shoulder and loops into Pickford's welcome grasp.

Russell Boorman: Excellent management choice by Everton - their players will all be too scared of a beating from big Dunc to under perform!

At last a bit of effort from Everton and interesting to see that not once so far has Pickford rolled it out from the back. Long may that continue!

Abraham is again in the thick of it in the box. Mason Mount curls a low cross from the left that swings behind the defence but just in front of Tammy, who dives but fails to connect.

Probably as good an opportunity as Chelsea have had.

It's semi-finals day here at the UK Championship in York, but eyes in the press room are firmly on this game.

The 1991 champion John Parrott is here, up and down in his seat as he watches his beloved Toffees hold a priceless lead against Chelsea.

He's meant to be on punditry duty from 1pm, don't know what he is still doing here.

You can watch coverage on BBC One and online.

    Where are ya?!

Willian's cut-back is perfect for a man arriving late from midfield, but instead it dribbles into empty space before an Everton man clears.

    Someone make a gamble.

    Everton 1-0 Chelsea

It is not free-flowing by any means, but Everton will be fine with that. If a football match properly breaks out, you'd back Chelsea. But in a fight, the home side have plenty of dog.

    Oh, so close.

Chelsea work the ball in from the right, but Willian's cross is diverted just wide of the far post by Tammy Abraham, who had ghosted to the near upright.

Aashish: Great start for Everton and Duncan, energy, intensity and passion, can they do for the 90 mins

John Dunthorne: Everton are not playing better or more skillfully. But my my are they showing more energy and heart.

The corner is taken short and swung in before Reece James flicks an effort wide.

Richarlison is back on. Goodison breathes again.

    Everton 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea not really being allowed to settle, but their class is still bringing them openings. A run from Christian Pulisic wins his side a corner, which is held up slightly while Richarlison gets some treatment on a foot injury. Losing the Brazilian would be a huge blow.

  12. 'Ferguson is living every minute'published at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Everton 1-0 Chelsea

    Vicki Sparks
BBC Radio 5 live commentator at Goodison Park

Duncan Ferguson is struggling to stay in his technical area. He is heading every ball, he is kicking every pass. he is living every minute of this game. I would hate to be the official who has to tell him to get back in his box.

    Everton 1-0 Chelsea

    Everton get away with one.

Michael Keane's poor judgement at the back and heavy touch gifts possession to Willian near the edge of the box but he and Christian Pulisic cannot make anything of it.

The away side had the advantage but Everton rallied quickly. But it is a little sign that while Silva is gone, the errors that marked the end of his time are not.

  14. Postpublished at 17 mins

The battles are all being won by the home side at the moment. Chelsea have yet to test Jordan Pickford.

Andy: Good header by Richarlison but surely the keeper should be coming for the cross.

Adam Byrne: Don't anyone tell me that Richarlison is a winger, that's all total nonsense, he's a centre forward through and through.

Everton threaten again. Theo Walcott's pass breaks for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the box but his low shaot is blocked by Kepa in the Chelsea goal.

If anything, he placed it too close to the keeper.

Chelsea move it crisply and win a corner, but Willian's delivery is headed away by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

  18. Richarlison does a Duncanpublished at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

If you asked Duncan Ferguson for the type of goal he would dream about for his first as Everton manager, that would be it right there.

Cross into the area and striker rising to power it home - just as he liked it.

More positive work from Everton. A long ball forward drops to Theo Walcott on the right and his low cross is into the corridor of uncertainty, but just ahead of the sliding Richarlison.

  20. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Everton 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea's attempts to make hay in attack come to nothing as they are forced back by a home wave. Goodison is loud. Seriously loud. And they're enjoying what they are seeing.
