It looked like a goal-saving tackle from Nathan Ake to deny Mohamed Salah as the Egyptian ran through on goal, but at what cost? Ake, who has been a colossus for the Cherries since his move from Chelsea, immediately went down clutching his hamstring, and his afternoon is done.

Bournemouth can ill afford any more injuries, they do have a like-for-like replacement in local academy product Jack Simpson - but their wall is immediately breached as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who began his career down the road at Southampton, holds off Chris Mepham and makes no mistake.

Mohamed Salah is slipped in by Naby Keita and there's a chase on with Nathan Ake. The defender JUST gets there and pulls off a brilliant tackle - but he's done his hamstring in the process.

This is bad news for Bournemouth fans! He's going to have to come off.

Bournemouth have had decent ball but every time Liverpool get into the crossing positions they get the ball into the box.

Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah are trying to unlock the defence with cute touches and nifty turns but it's not quite paying off... yet.

Another move breaks down and Bournemouth try to catch Liverpool out. There's a two-on-three chase for a few seconds but Dominic Solanke holds onto it for too long and Virgil van Dijk makes an excellent sliding challenge just outside the box.

Simon Atkins: I think this is showing exactly how important Sadio Mane is to Liverpool. On the bench, and they're lacking options.

Oh, nice!

Ryan Fraser has played a few decent-looking balls on the left and he's just swung in another one for Arnaut Danjuma, who can't quite connect with it properly.

That was a chance.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has kept calm so far, despite the lack of goals, cutting a solitary figure in his technical area - only taking his hands out of his coat pockets for the occasional clap to applaud a good move by the visitors.

However, he's just exchanged a few words with assistant referee Sian Massey-Ellis who's patrolling the near side in front of the Main Stand, before a quick chat with fourth official James Linington. All very friendly.

Bob Moss: For the sake of this non title race, really need Bournemouth to win this one.

Andy Robertson plays a lovely early ball into the feet of Mohamed Salah on the edge of the box. Salah takes it down, turns and tries to set-up Roberto Firmino with a backheel.

Nathan Ake gets back in time to hook it away but Liverpool come at Bournemouth again seconds later - James Milner firing inches wide of the right post.

Bit of a snoozefest this!

Ryan Fraser curls a nice ball down the line for Dominic Solanke to chase. The former Liverpool striker stands up Dejan Lovren, jinks to his right and gets a shot away - but Lovren deflects it into the side-netting.

Much better from Bournemouth.

Liverpool are resplendent today in their away strip of white shirts with red trim on the sleeve cuffs, navy blue shorts and white socks.

It actually bears more than a passing resemblance to Bournemouth's away colours of last season - white shirts with red(ish) trim on the sleeve cuffs, navy blue shorts and white socks.

"Come on Bournemouth!" the home fans chant as Liverpool continue to dominate possession. Still no real chance created but Liverpool are just starting to wind up the pressure.

Mo Salah can't quite get his shot away before Jordan Henderson tees up Andy Robertson with a cross. The full-back goes for the volley and completely skies it.

Jefferson Lerma knicks it off Naby Keita but Liverpool recover so quickly and Callum Wilson is pushed wide and over the byeline.

A sniff of an opportunity and it's gone immediately.

It's cool rather than chilly on the south coast - the small capacity here means away tickets are a prized commodity for a club the size of Liverpool, and the away contingent have made plenty of noise so far with the league leaders dominating the early exchanges.

With Harry Wilson unable to face his parent club, Bournemouth are fielding two wingers who prefer to play on the left (though both like to cut in on their right feet) - Ryan Fraser and Arnaut Danjuma. Dutch international Danjuma has started on the right, with the important additional job of shadowing Andy Robertson's forward runs from left-back.

Roberto Firmino's pass bobbles through to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the back post but he is expecting Simon Francis to slide in to make the tackle so he jumps and the ball ends up racing away from him.

How the opening 12 minutes have played out.

All the ball for Liverpool but Bournemouth are just happy to sit it out and defend. This could be a long afternoon...
