    Hearts 1-1 Rangers

Very tame stuff so far. But, Rangers get some joy down Hearts' left-hand side. Tavernier receives a pass from deep, controls it superbly and delivers a cross which Jamie Brandon had to head out for a corner, or Alfredo Morelos was waiting to pounce.

I just wonder how long Steven Gerrard will give it before Ryan Kent will be introduced for Scott Arfield. And as I say that, there he is.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 49 mins

    Hearts 1-1 Rangers

Aidy White trudges off for Jamie Brandon as Craig Levein changes his left full-back. White did take a sore one to the face in the first half.

It's a far more tepid start to this half than the first, with neither side showing much intent to far. Borna Barisic does well to diffuse Uche Ikpeazu's charging run.

    Hearts 1-1 Rangers

Rangers have started on the front foot but Alfredo Morelos is penalised for a push in the box and Hearts clear down the park.

We're off again. Who's going to win this one? Thumbs up for the home side, Hearts and thumbs down for the visitors, Rangers?

  6. Jefferies just 'glad to be alive' after heart attackpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    HT: Hearts 1-1 Rangers

Hearts legendary former manager Jim Jefferies, who won the Scottish Cup with the club in 1998 by beating Rangers in the final, has been speaking on Sportsound during the break. He suffered a heart attack last month, but is thankfully back in great health.

"It's the best I've felt for a long time," he said. "A couple of months before it happened I didn't feel too great but I just thought I was getting older, playing with grandkids and playing golf. Since I had the procedure done it's been totally different, and I'm just glad to be alive."

On the game, Jefferies said: "I thought Hearts started terrific, Rangers were very sloppy from the start. Rangers tried to get a foothold in the game but struggled a wee bit. If Hearts can get back to how they started in the first half and putting pressure on defenders then there are chances there."

Hearts were very good. The thing that will really bother Craig Levein is the cheapness, the softness of the goal they concede.

  9. HALF-TIME- Hearts 1-1 Rangerspublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

That's that for the first period. Hearts started brilliantly and went ahead through Ryotaro Meshino's fine lob after James Tavernier's sloppy header.

Rangers then came back into the game without really threatening, but September's Premiership player of the month Alfredo Morelos hauled them level after poor marking by Hearts at a corner. What will the second half have in store?

Tell me why Alfredo Morelos, who is Rangers biggest threat, is free at the back post? To lose a goal at a set-piece will rile Hearts manager Craig Levein up.

It's poor from Hearts. Katic got free and Morelos is left alone at the back post. You can't leave a player like Morelos unmarked. It's an unforced error.

GOAL- Hearts 1-1 Rangerspublished at 39 mins

    Alfredo Morelos

Aaron Hickey, the outstanding young Hearts full-back, has had a nightmare here. He needlessly concedes a corner, and when the delivery comes in Nikola Katic flicks it on to Morelos, who takes a touch and smashes it home.

It's a nice, composed finish from the Colombian, who evades Hickey, who was supposed to be marking him. Game on!

Uche Ikpeazu controls another ball on his massive frame and puts a delivery into the box, but there were no takers in maroon.

He's been brilliant so far the Hearts striker.

  15. CLOSE!published at 34 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

That was Rangers' best chance, and it was a pretty brilliant, ridiculous attempt. James Tavernier picks out Steven Davis on the edge of the area from a corner, and the Northern Irishman produces a diving header which almost rattles into the bottom corner.

Some neck muscles required for that one.

  16. YELLOW CARD- Aidy White (Hearts)published at 33 mins

It's getting feisty out there now. Aidy White chops down Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian striker rolled him and goes into Kevin Clancy's book for his troubles.

Rangers' Nikola Katic needs to stop crying. Big Uche Ikpeazu is just roughing him up a little bit. It's the same tactics that Livingston employed against Celtic. Just go and make it difficult, make it tough for them, see if they can handle it and lose composure.

  18. YELLOW CARD- McGregor (Rangers)published at 30 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

Nikola Katic is really not enjoying Uche Ikpeazu's company this afternoon! The Rangers defender tries to shepherd the ball out and the Hearts striker slides in and gets a foot on it, but it's deemed out by the linesman.

Allan McGregor then goes into the book for dissent. The Rangers goalkeeper was going off his head, clearly not happy at Ikpeazu's cheeky tackle!

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

That free-kick came to nothing. Rangers are struggling to break Hearts down, while Uche Ikpeazu continues to cause problems with his mere presence down the other end.

This time he draws the foul from James Tavernier and Hearts have a free-kick. Rangers manage to clear in the end though.
