  1. Levein taking Dykes inspiration?published at 12:40 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    Quote Message

There is no doubt Levein has looked at Dykes' performances for Livingston against Rangers and thought Ikpeazu can do the same. He has started in a similar way in terms of physicality and movement.

  2. YELLOW CARD- Glenn Whelan (Hearts)published at 23 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

That, is what you might call a professional foul. Alfredo Morelos is scampering clear towards the Hearts box and the grizzled veteran Whelan chops him down. He wasn't the last man, but he's certainly snuffed out the counter-attack.

It's a free-kick in a decent position for Rangers now.

  3. CLOSE!published at 20 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

That's a first half chance for Rangers. Alfredo Morelos latches on to a corner at the back post but his shot is blocked, then Scott Arfield has a go but his strike suffers the same fate.

  4. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

There was a faint shout for a penalty to Rangers there as Christophe Berra nudged Scott Arfield as the ball came in from the right. Nothing given by referee Kevin Clancy.

  5. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

Things have settled down a bit after that frantic, whirlwind start by Hearts. Rangers are getting a foot on the ball, but with little effect at the moment.

Meanwhile, Uche Ikpeazu and Nikola Katic are having an almighty physical tussle. On this occasion the Croatian defender gets the better of the Hearts striker.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

Rangers get their first corner after some patient build-up. James Tavernier's ball in is cleared and Borna Barisic delivers from the left. Alfredo Morelos was lurking, but Hearts clear.

This is better from the visitors.

Ryotaro Meshino has just anchored himself onto Steven Davis to stop him dictating the play and it means that Sean Clare and Jake Mulraney are locking onto Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo and they're stopping Rangers from dictating, and that's why they're so aggressive.

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

Steven Gerrard said pre-match he expected a fast start by Hearts, and he was bang on. His players just haven't dealt with it though.

Another ball goes into their box but this time there's no harm done and they clear.

  9. 'Vulnerable' Rangerspublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    Hearts 1-0 Rangers

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

It's a great finish from Meshino but the mistake to start with is incredible. Rangers' defending is woeful, they've looked vulnerable.

  10. goal

GOAL- Hearts 1-0 Rangerspublished at 5 mins

    Ryotaro Meshino

    It's been coming!

What a finish this is by the Japanese midfielder. It starts with a long ball which is flicked on by Uche Ikpeazu which James Tavernier makes a total hash of clearing. Jake Mulraney pounces and when his shot is saved, Meshino lobs it into the net from just outside the box. What a start by Hearts!

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Billy Dodds

Gerrard was wary of the start Hearts could make pre-match. Hearts are right at it here in the first couple of minutes.

  12. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

If there's a moment that illustrates how pumped up Hearts are for this one, then it's Jake Mulraney clearing out the linesman as he desperately attempts to block a clearance! Steady!

  13. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 2 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

    Quote Message

I'm glad to hear Craig Levein say that it is a day for taking risks. It must be tempting to contain Rangers. But I'm not sure Hearts have enough to stop the Ibrox side

Rangers are going to have to be at their best to get the win. Hearts have not been on good form, but when the Old Firm come, they usually make it difficult

  19. Rangers motivated to return to summit - Gerrardpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    Hearts v Rangers (12:15)

The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard speaking to BT Sport: "[Going back top] has to be the motivation for the players. We have to to do our job here and remember what we've worked on all week with and without the ball. The good thing is the players know our system and how we want to play.

"It's quite hostile here and I'm sure Hearts will start the game well so we've got to be ready for that."

  20. Levein banks on Ikpeazu and Whitepublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    Hearts v Rangers (12:15)

Hearts manager Craig Levein tells BT Sport: "We need to start winning and we need to be competitive and go toe-to-toe with Rangers and also need to hope that Rangers are a bit under par today.

"We need to be up for it from the start to show the support that we can compete.

"Uche Ikpeazu brings us raw power. I was hoping Peter Haring could come back after he training three times this week, but he felt a niggle and it was not worth the risk.

"I've been easing Aidy White back into it after nearly two years out the game and I think he will give us something extra today."
