Hearts manager Craig Levein admits that this current run of poor form may be the most challenging of his managerial career.

“I’m the one that’s in the bunker just now and dealing with all the shots that are getting fired in," said the Tynecastle boss when asked to respond to fan chants calling for his dismissal.

"My job is to be as strong as possible and to try and dig us out of this position. So that’s what I intent to do."

Kilmarnock have already confirmed that they will appeal against the first-half red card shown to defender Alex Bruce.

Hearts manager Craig Levein admits that he's troubled by Hearts' form and position in the table but is adamant that they can still turn it around.

“I’m concerned about the inconsistency," he says. "Of course I’m worried. I’m not going to stand here and say that I’m not worried. We need to dig deep and get ourselves up the table as quickly as possible. I mean, the change can happen with just one victory and that’s what we need to search for.

“I still believe in the players. They lack confidence in themselves at this moment but I still believe that we’re more than capable of turning it around.”

Hibernian manager Paul Heckingbottom knows his side were seconds from sitting bottom of the league, with Martin Boyle's last-gasp goal salvaging a fifth successive draw for his struggling side.

He tells BBC Sportsound: "We'll take a point after being 2-0 down, but the question is why did it get to that?

"You're looking at the first half display compared to the second, take the scoreline out it, but there was more fight, more drive and more desire. The fans were excellent tonight, they stuck with the team and got them over the line. But it's that simple, that's what fans want to see, that spirit and drive.

"I'm frustrated because why should it take a tactical change or a bollocking to get people up in running and get them playing the way they should? It should not take that, but that's where we are. People will say we should have more points but you get what you deserve. I'll watch the game back and I know in the first half I'll see some positives but I'll also see players not 100% committed, and the second half proves that."

Boyle came one for his first league appearance of the season following a serious knee injury in the summer, and Heckingbottom was full of praise for the winger: "I wasn't expecting to use Martin tonight but he's trained extremely hard and he's done lots of one-on-one sessions with myself after training," he says. "And it's in those one-to-ones that I've seen things that's made me think that he's worth 15-20 minutes. His personality, his work-rate and his drive to try and impress me."

Hamilton manager Brian Rice says it isn't all doom and gloom for his side, with positives to take from the game, but he knows they must improve.

"I’m delighted with how my young lads played. The energy and enthusiasm – everything we didn’t do on Saturday," he told BBC Sportsound.

"We had a few chances, it was swinging back and forward. It’s disappointing to lose a goal to a set-piece. It’s still a young team and a new team with a lot of changes, but we need to get better and get better quickly."

As you might expect, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is full of praise for Ryan Jack after his brace tonight.

"Obviously Jacko coming back in tonight we know what he brings," he tells BT Sport. "He knits everything together, he drives the team on and demands from people around him."

Gerrard wanted more from his side in the final quarter, despite the convincing scoreline: "I thought we got a bit sloppy in the last 20 minutes with people wanting to get on the score sheet, people slowing it down, we wanted the subs to bring more. It's interesting because as soon as one gets sloppy it's like a disease that goes through the whole team, it doesn't look right. But I thought for 70 minutes we were really good."

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright couldn't be happier for his side after they overcame Hearts at McDiarmid Park.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, he says: “It was a battle at times. We had to deal with a lot of long balls up to big Uche Ikpeazu and I thought our two centre halves were magnificent. That gave us a good platform. I was slightly disappointed in the first half because I don’t think we got enough control of the game.

"In the second half we were a wee bit braver on the ball and that got us up the pitch and that created a few more opportunities. We thoroughly deserved it. We defended well and created more chances than the opposition. So, happy with the result and really pleased for the players because they’ve been through the mill.

"We’re still not out of it yet. Although we’ve moved up to eighth tonight - which is brilliant - the league is still so tight and we won’t get carried away. But it has been a good three or four days for us.”

Kilmarnock manager Angelo Alessio believes a red card for his defender Alex Bruce was the wrong decision.

He tells BBC Sportsound: "I think it was not a free-kick and not a sending off. Bruce takes the ball.

"It was 10 against 11 for most of the game, but I think the players played well.

"At the end of the game we had two or three chances to score. We go ahead now."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes, talking to BBC Sportsound: "I'm delighted with all three points, that’s what we came here for. I’d have taken 1-0 before the game, such was the importance of getting a bit of momentum.

"The performance was excellent, I thought we should have been out of sight. Some of our play tonight was terrific. It was just disappointing we never scored more.

"Craig Bryson rolled his ankle just before half-time. He wanted to play on but we thought it was the right decision to take him off given the conditions and pitch. We took him off with Saturday in mind so hopefully he’s good to go."

For St Johnstone this season, wins have been a bit like buses. They’ve waited a long time for one, then all of a sudden two come along at once.

The victory sees them move off the foot of the Premiership and who would bet against them continuing their upward progress? As for Hearts, this was another abject display, the visiting fans made their feelings very clear to Craig Levein.

His side are now in a share of bottom spot, and unless Levein can find the answers – and soon – it is hard to see how they can avoid being involved in a relegation battle as the season wears on.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson believes his young side can still improve after moving back into third place with a win over Kilmarnock.

He tells BBC Sportsound: “I thought we dominated large parts of the game, as we should with one more man.

“I thought Chris Long was outstanding, alongside Devante Cole. We’ve got young boys and we may be up and down but we’re happy with where we are at the moment.

“I’m delighted where we are and the good thing is I think we can still improve.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon hails his side's second-half performance, saying: "I just wanted a bit more energy and attacking threat. We needed more oomph and I certainly got that second half and we could have won by a lot more.

"I wasn't unhappy with the first-half performance but we played into St Mirren's hands by being hesitant with our passing and trying to force things.

"Second half was tremendous - no panic."

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was a bit disappointed his team didn't add more goals in Dingwall.

He's told BT Sport though that he's pleased with the clean sheet and hopes to have Allan McGregor, Brandon Barker and Ryan Kent fit and ready for Sunday's League Cup semi-final with Hearts.

He was also able to take goalscorers Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos off with over 25 minutes to go. He was particularly pleased to be able to give Jack a breather, adding "he's so important to this team".

Ross County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell is disappointed with his side's response after conceding the opener tonight.

"The Achilles heel we have at the minute seems to be, certainly against Celtic and Rangers, is when we concede that goal and get a bit of adversity then you can see we capitulate." he tells Sportsound. "That's an issue me and Steven [Ferguson] have to deal with and rectify it.

"Rangers in all honestly could have scored more goals tonight, they were excellent. But we feel we can influence the game so much more than we did."

Hibs and Hearts have League Cup semi-finals to prepare for at the weekend.

Celtic and Rangers will be huge favourites for those games at Hampden.

Hibs did earn one of their many draws against the champions and Hearts recently held Rangers at Tynecastle, so maybe there is a glimmer of hope for the struggling Edinburgh rivals. Maybe...
