Prince Gyimah: The Premier League is insanely entertaining.

Dan Bell: Man City will never win the league again with Stones in the team. The guy cannot defend!

  2. 'We played with more confidence'published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It’s a good point. We did not play well first half, second half was better. In the end it was good because we played a good game. I am not so happy about the goal we let in but the fact that we were able to score immediately was good. We played with more confidence.

Set pieces are really important. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been really fantastic. He scores goals, which is important for him and for the the squad. He is doing good performances and today it was important."

On the possible red card: "I don’t know because I did not see it. There is VAR and sometimes the referees have to use it which they did."

  3. 'It's difficult to analyse'published at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Man City 2-2 Crystal Palace

    Manchester City

Pep Guardiola speaking to Match of the Day: "It was a tight game and unfortunately we could not win it.

On his half-time team talk: "I told them to keep going. Put more balls into the box and try to control Zaha on the counter-attack. It's difficult to analyse when they shoot one corner have no more chances and we did many times and unfortunately could not win. We take it one game at a time."

  4. 'We did not play well but at least we go the point'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton captain Seamus Coleman speaking to Sky Sports: It was a tough game. We came here looking for three points but I don’t think we played good enough. Thankfully we equalised quite quickly. We did not play well but at least we go the point. We would like to stay with our men a bit better when marking and do better on set pieces but thankfully we also scored from a set-piece.

JChesterUnited: Arsenal absolutely have the worst luck in the league, two games in a row they've been done by a cruel deflection, no penalty for a clear foul.

Wijshield: Arteta and Pep have similar playing patterns and similar defensive issues.

Ash Williams: Same story all season for City. Aguero can keep scoring but that City defence wasn’t sorted out in the summer.

  6. 'There is no magic wand'published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Norwich 1-0 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a bizarre one (the sending off). I don't know what to say. Naturally, Cooky (Steve Cook) didn't mean to do what he did. It was instinct. It cost us the game. He didn't know what to say, either. He has been so good for us historically. I have to protect him.

"We responded well and dug in and were hard to beat. We had our moments as the game wore on but it won't fall for us. The collective effort after the sending off was excellent.

"There is no magic wand. It is a case of sticking together and working hard. Moments define games. We are in that moment where anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It is what it is.

"We have small time between games and we know how big this next one is."

On referees using pitch-side monitors: "If referee's get the right call. It hasn't given it much thought. It gives him time to make his decision. Time will tell if it is the right call."

  9. 'We have lots of positives and lots to build on'published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Everton

    West Ham United

West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph: "Lots of positives to build on. We were very solid and we limited their chances. We created a lot of chances in the first half. We are disappointed not to get the win."

On coming back to West Ham: "I am very happy. I got a great reaction form the fans which was really nice. I was hoping to come back to a win but we have lots of positives and lots to build on. We now need to recover from today and go one game at a time."

On David Moyes: "I have only been here two days but I am looking forward to working with David Moyes. Everyone speaks very highly of him."

  10. 'Maybe others don't believe in us but we do'published at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Norwich 1-0 Bournemouth

    Norwich City

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It is huge. We have played well lately but haven't got the three points. It was important for the team and for confidence. There is a big road ahead but we are ready to fight.

"It is never easy to take a penalty and it was a long time before I could take it. I was confident I would score though.

"We have struggled to get three points against teams in a similar position to us so today was important. Maybe others don't believe in us but we do."

Simply not good enough, how can we keep letting leads slip. Such a weak mentality at a once strong club. Sack them 11 and the bench and play the reserves. Had enough of these over paid Gunners

  12. Is the gloom lifting at Newcastle?published at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Newcastle v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Alistair Magowan
BBC Sport at St James’ Park

It’s been a mixed season for Newcastle but are there signs they could turn a corner?

As the sun dips behind a towering St James’ Park and the temperature plummets, Steve Bruce’s side have reasons to be optimistic. Livewire Allan Saint-Maximin is back in the team, Joelinton has ended his goal drought and Miguel Almiron has scored in three successive games.

Bruce didn’t sound too desperate on Friday when he was asked if he intended to invest in the transfer market this month but has said his team need to “be at our maximum” to beat Chelsea, who have earned more points away than at home this season.

  13. 'Kick-start belief'published at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Norwich 1-0 Bournemouth

    Norwich City

Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul: "Over the last 10-12 games we deserved more wins but football is harsh game sometimes. We did everything right today to get the three points. We needed the win to kick-start belief."

On the use of the pitch-side monitor by referee: "We all know we can't influence the referee. The referee needs to make decisions. We are sick of people outside the stadium in a little room getting involved."

    Man City 2-2 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace goalscorer Cenk Tosun speaking to Sky Sports: "That was a very important point for us. I just want to say thank you to the lads. Everybody ran to the last second, didn't give up when we went behind and I think we deserved a point.

"To score was a great feeling as a striker needs confidence and confidence comes with scoring goals.

"We played a solid game, knew City would have more possession but we scored a good two goals and I'm just glad I got one of them.

"It's a great feeling to score a goal in my first game but more than the goal was the point - that’s what mattered today."

  15. 'Disappointed we did not go on to win'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Everton

    Everton

Everton goalscorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought today we under-performed. It was disappointing not to play to our strengths. We got ourselves back into the game but should have gone on from there and won it. I am happy to get on the scoresheet and get the point but I thought we could have performed better."

On Carlo Ancelotti: "I think it‘s been a good experience and I am learning from him everyday. I think you can see that in my performances."

On Anthony Gordon: "He has been excellent in training, he gets on the ball, he is settling and being exciting. He has a great career ahead of him and he has the skills to be a very good player for the club."

Things are getting heated at the Amex. Neal Maupay is getting a bit fighty-pops with some Villa players and staff. He was riled up about something before the final whistle and clearly wants to carry on his grievance. Brighton's staff quickly gather to usher him away.

    FT: West Ham 1-1 Everton

    Matt Upson
Former England and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Not a thrilling match of football overall. It was not the best example of Premier League football but both teams were having a go. Couple of opportunities, mostly from set pieces and that about sums it up.
