You have to give so much credit to that Arsenal team. The resilience, the guts that they showed. They got better when they went to 10 men. You have to give them so much credit. Arsenal will be celebrating in the dressing room as if they have won three points. After the whistle, three Chelsea players sunk to the floor, it was as if they were down to 10 men. The Arsenal players stood up big. They are going to kick on now Arsenal, I think.

Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho to BT Sport: "We feel like we lost the game. We had the game in our hands then in the last second conceded a goal when we shouldn't. It's hard. We need to move forward.

"I don't think it's confidence because we played well and were controlling the game. Something about concentration maybe. In these kind of games, you lose in moments. We made mistakes. That is it.

"These big games are like these. You can win and lose the game in the details."

Arsenal

Granit Xhaka speaking with BT Sport: "We played very well after the red card. So difficult, but we showed great team spirit. We were speaking at half time that we can do it and we came twice back so I am very proud of this team.

"After this game nobody will have to speak about us. We showed big character. A lot of people say we have no character in the team, so after this game we showed we have.

"I hope centre-back is not my new position, but the gaffer knows I can play there. I tried to help the team, and the guys around me made it easy for me today."

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We were a long way below our standards. Southampton played extremely well. I think it was a game too far for us. We have been battling with the same group of players. We have had tough games, battled through brilliantly, but that all caught up with us today and we deserved to lose the game because Southampton were the better team.

“The players were determined in the second half to do something about it but when the second goal went in that gave us a mountain to climb. We would have had to produce some fantastic football and find a way of combating what we couldn’t combat in the first half.

"I hope with some of the players coming back the competition for places will be greater.

"There are three or four we think can be back for Sheffield United. If we had a game Saturday we would have not been able to significantly change the team, but in 10 or 11 days hopefully they will make it."

And how big was that late fightback from Aston Villa? Watford were looking well on the way to safety but then all of a sudden they are right back in the mire.

Big win for the Cherries as well.

Arsenal

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin to BT Sport: "Everything is due to the team work. It was a really hard game with 10 men and losing a very important player for us.

"We turned it around. We were 1-0 down at half-time and saw it as an opportunity to get back into the game.

"We are a team that are always looking to improve, to defend together and to not give up. Gabriel Martinelli took it really well. He was very calm. He finished it really well. That is why we practise in training every day."

Teammate Granit Xhaka is then asked to present the Man of the Match award to Bellerin and adds: "I didn't know he had a good left foot!"

Bellerin responds, "It's good after the operation, no?"

Manchester City cut the gap on the leaders to 13 points - or more realistically, moved 17 points clear of fifth.

Never mind putting Ederson on penalties they could play him in midfield for the rest of the season.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero: "The goal is important for me, but only when we're winning. I'm happy because we needed the three points. We are now more calm in the second position.

"I'm very hungry but I'm enjoying the moments. Most important for me are my team mates, because they are helping me."

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith to BBC Match of the Day: "I thought it was a good performance. We dominated the first half and were unfortunate to go a goal down as they scored with their first attack.

"But the lads showed plenty of endeavour, kept pushing and got the result tonight. It's a big win, we know there are big games to come and every game is tough.

"It does give the players a lot of belief."

Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal

Tammy Abraham is having to be helped off the pitch, limping heavily. That looks sore.

If you missed it, he absolutely clattered into the advertising boards. Which need a new name now as they are basically massive TV screens.

We've decided this has to be a thing.

"KEEPER UP FOR A PEN!!!"

Everton

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti speaking to Match of the Day: "There are things in football you cannot control. We conceded without any reason but the performance was good.

"We played a fantastic game and we were unlucky but nothing changes – our Premier League continues, we have to stay focused.

"We were two nil up, had opportunities to score and we played attacking football. I’m really pleased with the performance. These results are not frequent but they can happen.

"We have to stay on the game for 90 minutes but I’m not saying anything to my players. They played well and it can happen. It's just unlucky for this game."

On Moise Kean scoring his first goal for the club: "For his confidence it’s important. He played well and worked hard for the team. I'm pleased for him and this will do his confidence good."

Arsenal come from behind twice to get a point with 10 men despite only having two shots in the whole game.

It's all Chelsea's fault. I have to be really critical of them. Again the same old story. Frank Lampard is going to go in and say we didn't take our chances. But they haven't managed the game. They were 2-1 up with minutes to go. It's such a naive performance and again the grit of Arsenal has been unbelievable.

Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce speaking to Match of the Day: "It’s quite remarkable. I can’t fault the players for their endeavour. Joelinton was struggling after 50 minutes; I nearly put a centre-half up front.

"We keep showing determination. We were a tired team tonight but we found a bit of energy from somewhere.

"When we scored Mike Dean said there are 40 seconds left – and you’re thinking 'can we score in 40 seconds?' We rode our luck certainly but they never gave up.

"There is a good spirit and attitude in this team – we looked tired but we played people out of position. We didn’t have much coming off the bench in terms of forward players but the attitude was fantastic.

"It’s a wacky game that's for sure - but it’s great. It just shows you shouldn't leave a game early."

On loan signing Nabil Bentaleb: Just when we need him - he’s the type of quality we are looking for. He trained today and hopefully he’ll be involved on Saturday."

Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder, talking to BBC Match of the Day: Kevin de Bruyne has found an amazing pass and the movement of Sergio Aguero, he's done that to everyone in Europe and the world, It's a great finish. After that we're behind and it's double difficult for us.

"I've got nothing but an enormous amount of pride for my team, we went toe-for-toe with them. When opportunities arise you have to show a little bit of quality and we didn't do that sadly. Games are like this are what we're here for, we've worked really hard to get here, we want no regrets and I don't think there was tonight. Everyone at this football club did the best that they can tonight.

"When teams come here, we want to make sure they go through the mixer to get a result and I do believe Pep, his staff, the players and the fans will believe it's been a difficult night for them. The goalkeeper is always going to have play well and I thought Dean Henderson did, he was excellent."
