  1. 'A solid performance'published at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2020

FT: Sheffield United 0-1 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola talking to BT Sport: "It's a difficult place to come, they are so physical and they arrive with a lot of men in the last 18-yard box. It was a solid performance, we only conceded two chances. In the first half the keeper made two incredible saves.

"We knew that Aymeric couldn't play for 90 minutes, that's why we played five at the back to protect him a little bit. He's a crucial player for us, we've missed him, it's good for us to have him back.

"Sergio is on fire right now. Strikers need momentum. It's good for us to have strikers in this form.

"I am so happy with the team. I know what it's like to play here, it is a tough tough place. We controlled it well and in the end we created chances to win."

On Gabriel Jesus' missed penalty: "It's part of the game."

  2. 'Result has to be backed up'published at 21:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2020

    FT: Bournemouth 3-1 Brighton

    Bournemouth

More from Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Feeling better after that. Brighton are a good team and made it difficult for us in the early stages of the game. I'm really pleased with the character from the players.

"It's a massive win. We knew we needed to get back in the mix and show people we weren't finished. We believe in the players and their commitment and that showed on the pitch tonight. I thought we just about deserved it.

"Hopefully it's a turning point. We felt that about the Chelsea game a few weeks ago but it never quite materialised. We made it difficult for them tonight so I'm really pleased. It was a small step forward but a big one.

"This can't be one result. It has to be backed up every week."

Gabriel Martinelli is the first teenager to score 10 goals for Arsenal in a single season (all comps) since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

He did OK in his career. Martinelli looks like a rare bargain.

GOAL - Chelsea 1-1 Arsenalpublished at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2020

    Gabriel Martinelli (63 mins)

Arsenal's first shot of the whole game! I tell you what, you never fancied him to miss it. Chelsea have a corner which is headed out by Shkodran Mustafi, N'Golo Kante is the last man and slips, Steven Gerrard style, on the halfway line.

Gabriel Martinelli has a whole half to run into and gallops away before calmly slotting past Kepa and in.

  6. 'Anyone can step in and do a job'published at 21:35 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2020

    Crystal Palace 0-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton goalscorer Nathan Redmond speaking with Sky Sports: "We needed to test our 'bounce-back-ability', especially after dropping three points at the weekend. This was the perfect response and important to get three points as soon as possible.

"I was stumbling when I got the goal, but I'm never afraid to have a shot.

"Credit to the system - we played today with two strikers. The gaffer tried to give Ingsy [Danny Ings] a bit of a rest and credit to the players we have that anyone can step in and do a job."

  7. 'I'm delighted for Callum'published at 21:34 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2020

    FT: Bournemouth 3-1 Brighton

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "It's a nice feeling for everyone connected with the club. It was a hard game but we gave everything. The lads were flat out at the end which is all I can ask.

"The first 15-20 minutes were really difficult. We had to stay mentally strong but once we scored, the confidence came back and we started to flow. We almost didn't want half-time to come.

"We looked a threat and could have scored more. I'm delighted for Callum [Wilson] and for Harry [Wilson]. Set-pieces were a threat too.

On Callum Wilson breaking his goal drought: "It's massive. You need your strikers to score and you need them to believe they can score. He took it superbly. It was a decisive moment.

"Nothing was going to be decided tonight but it lifts us and gives us that belief. There's a lot more football to come so we need to back it up and commit to games every week."
