  1. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Scotland 1-1 Kazakhstan

Scotland are playing with a much better tempo now as John McGinn finds Greg Taylor galloping forward from left-back. The cut-back is perfect for James Forrest, who takes a touch before slamming a rising shot just wide of the target from near the penalty spot.

I think the goalkeeper has it covered, but the defender turns his back on it and it defects into the net. We needed good fortune to get back into it and we've got it

    John McGinn

Steven Naismith is chopped down on the edge of the box and up steps John McGinn.

The free kick takes a big deflection to deceive the keeper but who cares? Goal-machine McGinn strikes again. That's his sixth goal of the campaign.

    Quote Message

The team doesn't give the fans any reason to turn up, they've been awful. It's a brilliant finish but McKenna is just standing there admiring it. There's just not enough players looking like they care. They better turn it around or Steve Clarke will come in for a pasting

    Elsewhere in Group I...

    Belgium 4-1 Cyprus

    San Marino 0-2 Russia

As things stand, Scotland are finishing fourth... Remember that has no bearing on the play-offs since that was all down to the Nations League efforts.

More boos, a lot more and a lot louder, ring out as the whistle goes for the interval. The performance hasn’t been that bad but it’s difficult to defend a 1-0 deficit against a side ranked 121 in the world.

It's a big game for confidence and reputation. Getting beaten away to Kazakhstan is completely different to getting beaten at home. It's not acceptable. At home we should be able to take a team like this

  11. HALF-TIME Scotland 0-1 Kazakhstanpublished at 45+3 mins

Oh dear. You can hardly hear the boos since the frozen crowd is so low.

This is not the send off Scotland need looking ahead to the European Championship play-off semi-final.

  12. Postpublished at 45+2 mins

Steven Naismith is upended near the edge of the penalty area. Free kick in a promising position... Ryan Christie steps up and clatters the ball a couple of feet too high.

A spot of magic spray on his ankle and James Forrest is back on, albeit walking rather gingerly.

Quite a few boos to greet that belter of an opening goal. It comes as Scotland had been enjoying their best spell in the game, coming close to a goal of their own on a couple of occasions.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 42 mins

    Scotland 0-1 Kazakhstan

That's naughty. Abiken comes sliding in to cynically stop James Forrest in his tracks. The Celtic winger then crashes into another Kazahstan defender and looks to be in a spot of bother.

He's been Scotland's brightest player so far. Losing him would be a blow.

The break of the ball favours Ryan Jack as he squeezes through two defenders to break into the penalty area. He just has the keeper to beat but his rising shot is straight at Nepogodov.

Palmer doesn't keep the ball well, he's not having the best of nights. I think McKenna should close it down quicker, but take nothing away from the strike from Zainutdinov. It's a world class finish

It's a fabulous strike, but Palmer gives it away too easily, then two passes later it's in the back of the net
