    What a hit!

Liam Palmer gives the ball away and Scott McKenna is reluctant to close down Baktiyar Zaynutdinov. The Rostov midfielder then punishes that slackness with a stunning finish, hammering the ball in from 22 yards, with the ball taking a coat of paint off the post on its way in.

Scotland are huffing and puffing, trying to find a way through the Kazakhstan defence, but the visitors are not leaving many gaps to exploit and are coping pretty comfortably.

    Scotland 0-0 Kazakhstan

A lay-off from Steven Naismith sends James Forrest scurrying forward through the middle. He gets a shot away near the edge of the penalty area but there's no power on it and goalkeeper Nepogodov flops down on the ball.

Scotland haven't done enough in the game, we've struggled to open them up. Steve Clarke will be looking for more. Kazakhstan have looked organised and dangerous on the break

John McGinn is knocked off his feet as Logvinenko hammers a clearance straight at his noggin.

Definitely not what you're looking for on such a perishingly cold evening.

Hampden is deathly quiet. As much as the players are to blame for the situation they find themselves in, it must be very tricky to perform in such a ghostly arena. The only way to rouse this crowd is by impressing them though.

    Scotland 0-0 Kazakhstan

Another thrust down the left from James Forrest, who is usually seen on the right for Celtic, sets up a shooting chance for John McGinn.

The Aston Villa man takes a touch to steady himself but drags the effort wide from 18 yards.

Shchetkin should do better, but he just doesn't get enough on it. It's a timid effort. If he got a bit more on it the ball could've easily gone past Marshall

    Scotland 0-0 Kazakhstan

A wee scare for Scotland as Logvinenko drills in a low cross and Shchetkin slides in ahead of Greg Taylor to meet it. The forward is only 10 yards out but the connection is weak and David Marshall can save easily.

It's pretty flat. It doesn't seem an easy atmosphere to play in. The players are going to need to create their own atmosphere.

James Forrest darts forward on the left and burns past his man to cut the ball back into the path of Celtic team-mate Callum McGregor, but the midfielder can only fire his first-time effort high and wide.

Scotland haven't started yet. Kazakhstan are moving the ball about well and I'm sure that'll give them confidence. Steve Clarke will be hoping we can get a hold of the ball soon and put a couple of passes together

Greg Taylor gets forward from left-back and threads a dangerous low pass into the penalty area. John McGinn gets there first, at the edge of the six yard box, but his first touch isn't sharp enough and the ball rolls out of play.

  20. Scotland seek third 'three in a row' in 12 yearspublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 19 November 2019

    Scotland v Kazakhstan (19:45)

A win for Scotland tonight would mean that they have put together three successive competitive victories for the first time since Gordon Strachan managed it in 2017, with victories over Lithuania, Malta and Slovakia.

Alex McLeish is the only other manager to achieve this in the last 12 years, as he went on a four game winning run in his first spell as Scotland manager in 2007, with wins over the Faroe Islands, Lithuania, France and Ukraine.
