So where does that result leave the Championship table in the last match before Christmas Day?

Well Blackburn continue to knock on the door of the play-offs but the story of tonight's result might just be that Wigan have lifted themselves off the bottom of the table.

It's their first clean sheet in 33 matches, too. Some feat.

  4. 'A good point on the road'published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2019

    FT: Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Wigan Athletic midfielder Sam Morsy told Sky Sports:

"It was a good game, we had the good chances but they hit the bar. I'm disappointed but it's a good point on the road against a good side.

"[On the second-half incident with Lewis Travis] I know Lewis well, he's given me a shove and I've given one back."

  5. 'I'm disappointed it's not three points'published at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 23 December 2019

    FT: Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Wigan Athletic midfielder Lee Evans told Sky Sports:

"We dominated but they hit the bar. We'll take the point away from home but I'm disappointed it's not three.

"You've got to look at our result here last year and we know we can improve and move away from the bottom of the table.

"We need to try and get three points against Derby on Boxing Day."

Somehow this has finished goalless but an entertaining affair is soured by what looked to be a nasty injury to Blackburn midfielder Bradley Dack.

The 25-year-old was stretchered off with a knee injury in the second half.

Meanwhile, Wigan pick up what could be a valuable point and move off the bottom of the table at the expense of Stoke City, who slip to the bottom of the Championship at Christmas.

Blackburn move eighth and two points off the play-offs.

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Antonee Robinson does well to beat two markers and turn to find space as the Wigan man looks to frustrate the hosts and break upfield.

But Blackburn once again clear their lines. In the process, Joe Rothwell goes into the book for a cynical foul.

Not much long left in this one.

  8. Postpublished at 90+4 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

As we pass the halfway stage of time added on, there's a roar from both sets of fans when their team gets the ball.

Is there a dramatic late goal in store?

At the other end, Lewis Holtby takes a touch from a Wigan clearance on the edge of the box and fires goalbound.

However the Blackburn midfielder's shot is well saved by Latics keeper Jamie Jones.

Derrick Williams, that is some cracking defending, chap.

The Blackburn defender puts in a last-second sliding block to deny Wigan's Sam Morsy's shot on goal before Josh Windass tees up Jamal Lowe to head across goal from the near post.

Seven minutes of time have been added on.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 88 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Josh Windass goes into the book for cynically kicking the ball away after the referee blew his whistle.

Just under three minutes remain of normal time and I'd expect there to be a fair whack of time added on after Bradley Dack's knee injury.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 86 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Wigan make a change as Michael Jacobs comes off for Chey Dunkley.

Dunkley, despite being a centre-back, is the Latics' leading scorer this season don't you know?

  13. Postpublished at 85 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Joe Rothwell and Stewart Downing both unleash stunning long-range shots within moments of each other that swing just past the left-hand Wigan posts.

Again, how is this still goalless?! My word I love football. I mean seriously, football's great, isn't it? This is the best game I've seen in ages.

If you're just joining us having spent your evening watching the darts or wrapping presents, here's a brief summary of this encounter:

    • Wigan battered Blackburn in the first half and somehow couldn't find the back of the net
    • Sam Morsy gets into an off-the-ball incident with Lewis Travis that leaves the hosts incensed
    • Blackburn ease into the game but lose Bradley Dack to a knee injury
    • Danny Graham hits the crossbar for the hosts before Blackburn keeper Christian Walton pulls off a pair of stunning saves to deny Wigan

This isn't your average 0-0 on a Monday night, folks.

  15. ANOTHER GREAT SAVE!published at 81 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

Christian Walton take a bow, my friend.

From the corner that follows his previous save, Cedric Kipre heads from point-blank range and Walton pulls off an inspired save from right in front of his nose.

What a performance from the Blackburn keeper.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 79 mins

What a save from Blackburn keeper Christian Walton!

Sam Morsy curls a stunning shot towards the right hand corner of the goal and Walton gets a glove on it to deny the Wigan man.

    Superb.

  17. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 75 mins

    Blackburn 0-0 Wigan

My word, now Wigan have the ball in the net.

Michael Jacobs fouls Blackburn keeper Christian Walton in the process of a Wigan attack and Josh Windass taps it into the net but it's disallowed.

    It's all happening, here!

  18. Postpublished at 74 mins

Stewart Downing stands over a Blackburn free-kick and launches it into the box but Wigan head it away from danger.

Ryan Nyambe, under pressure from Wigan now chasing back upfield, passes back to goalkeeper Christian Walton who then timidly plays the ball back to him, almost into the path of the visitors.

Then, at breakneck speed, Blackburn break BACK upfield and Danny Graham heads Lewis Holtby's cross against the crossbar.

    HOW IS THIS STILL GOALLESS?!

Bradley Dack is stretchered from the field to applause from both sets of fans. He's been a stellar player in Blackburn's line-up in recent seasons so hopefully it's not too serious.

Replays show whatever has happened to him may have occurred as he went to ground in a challenge for the ball.
