    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Another Alan Sheehan free-kick is easily cleared away by the hosts.

Jed Wallace makes a good run on the counter but can't play through an open Aiden O'Brien.

It's a tight game that's just lacking a bit of quality at the moment.

  2. Cardiff on the up?published at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    QPR v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

QPR are winless in their past four and host a Cardiff side that beat them 3-0 in the reverse fixture.

But history is on their side having won 13 of their past 17 home league matches against Cardiff City, including the past two in a row.

Meanwhile, a win for the Bluebirds could put them back in the play-off, they're only two points off sixth as it stands.

So nearly a howler for Luton keeper James Shea.

The ball skids towards him just outside his area as Matt Smith breathes down his neck.

He doesn't catch it well at all and slices the ball out for a throw in.

It looked bad, but it could've been a lot worse.

  4. CLOSE!published at 23 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu has Luton's first big chance, stinging the palms of Millwall's Bartosz Bialkowski from range.

Luton are starting to grow into this one after Millwall dominated the battle in the middle of the park in the opening quarter.

Some breaking news from League One...

Ipswich manager Paul Lambert has agreed a four-year extension to his contract at Portman Road.

The Scot had 18 months remaining on his existing deal, but has now signed on until the summer of 2025.

Ipswich have gone 10 games without a win in all competitions, but are still fourth in League One.

Sheff Wed v Hull (15:00 GMT)

One fixture which shows just how tight the Championship is - Sheffield Wednesday v Hull City.

Wednesday are sixth in the table and could end the day third if results go their way.

Hull start 12th, but will move level on points with the Owls if they win at Hillsborough.

  8. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Luton skipper Alan Sheehan has a free-kick but he fails to beat the first man.

On the counter Millwall look dangerous before winning a set-piece of their own.

Jed Wallace sends it in but Matt Smith's header is too tame and is easy for the keeper.

  9. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Luton's Ryan Tunnicliffe is down to one shoe but referee Steve Martin waves play on. When Millwall's attack breaks down Tunnicliffe runs over to the official with his left shoe in his hand.

Again Martin ignores him, much to the delight of the home fans.

  10. CLOSE!published at 7 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Back at The Den, it looks like Luton are mirroring Millwall with a 3-5-2 formation.

Jed Wallace nicks the ball off Ryan Tunnicliffe and has a wicked shot from 30 yards out that flies just over the bar.

New year, same old chat about VAR and offsides in the Premier League.

Jack Grealish's header for Aston Villa at Burnley has been ruled out for the most marginal of calls against Wesley earlier in the move.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are leading Brighton in the other early kick-off. Follow those games live here.

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Millwall on the front foot inside the first two minutes. A cross just sails over the head of Lions forward Matt Smith. Not too much else to report so far.

  15. Team newspublished at 12:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Millwall v Luton (12:45 GMT)

Here's the team news. Good luck guessing Luton's formation. I think they've changed it five times in their last five fixtures.

    I'm thinking a 3-4-3 for this one.

  16. Hatters in need of a winpublished at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Millwall v Luton (12:45 GMT)

    Luton playersImage source, Rex Features

7 December - that was when Luton fans last tasted victory. The Hatters have lost four of their past five fixtures and sit 23rd in the Championship table.

But a point today would lift them out of the relegation zone, at least until 15:00 GMT.

Today they travel to The Den to face a Millwall side who have had a very mixed Christmas period.

It started with 2-1 loss to Barnsley on 21 December, next a 1-1 draw with Cardiff on Boxing Day, before beating Brentford 1-0 on 29 December. So which Millwall team is going to show up today then?

  17. Let's start the decade with a bangpublished at 12:34 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

What a round of fixtures we've got for you on this fine New Year's Day.

We start with strugglers Luton travelling to The Den to take on Millwall, who might be thinking about a potential promotion push after beating high-flying Brentford on Sunday.

At 15:00 GMT we've got 62 EFL clubs in action before the small matter of Championship leaders Leeds taking on second-placed West Brom at 17:15.

[Insert joke about the fireworks being last night but we're sure to see plenty today.]
