  1. A New Year's Day curse?published at 14:11 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Birmingham v Wigan (15:00 GMT)

Birmingham have not won on New Year's Day in 12 attempts, since a 2-1 win at Mansfield under Dave Mackay in 1991.

And Blues are on a bad run of form losing four of their past five, although they did look rather formidable in patches against Leeds in their 5-4 loss last time out.

They face a Wigan side who are bottom of the Championship.

The Latics have won their past three away league matches played on New Year's Day - in 2005, 2014 and 2018.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

We've barely had an hour and Luton subs are already walking incredibly slowly off the pitch.

Callum McManaman is the guilty man as he comes off for Luke Berry.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 60 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

Jed Wallace crosses into Matt Smith whose looping header is tipped onto the top of the crossbar.

From the resulting corner Luton goalscorer Sonny Bradley drags down Millwall's Smith.

Referee Steve Martin again waves play on. I'm not too sure, that looked like a penalty in my book.

  4. CLOSE!published at 58 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

Jed Wallace plays in a delicious corner right under the nose of Luton goalie James Shea.

Matt Smith outjumps the keeper, but his powerful header flies about a yard over.

Millwall are dominating this one as they search for an equaliser.

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

A couple of 50-50 challenges go the way of Luton and Gary Rowett is furious on the sidelines.

Boos ring out at The Den as a penalty shout for a shirt pull in the Luton box goes against Matt Smith.

Jed Wallace is on fire at the moment, playing in a nice cross that Luton just about clear away.

At the other end, Bartosz Bialkowski collects a Luton free-kick under pressure.

    End-to-end at the moment.

  7. CLOSE!published at 47 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

Already Jed Wallace had had two big chances for the hosts.

First he has a wicked curler which bounces just in front of Luton keeper James Shea.

Then he tests the goalie from range which Shea just about deals with.

    Good start for Millwall.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

    And we're off.

Millwall start the second half with a long hoof upfield.

The subs have just been told to stop their kickabout in the centre circle.

I think we're about to get back under way.

  10. Boro travel to Deepdalepublished at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Preston v Middlesbrough (15:00 GMT)

This is the second time in the last three seasons Preston and Middlesbrough are facing each other in the Championship on New Year's Day.

Boro won 3-2 in 2018 at Deepdale, Tony Pulis' first win as Middlesbrough manager.

A lot has changed for both clubs since, with a win for Preston today possibly enough to see them return to the play-off spots.

West Brom v Leeds (17:15 GMT)

Leeds v West BromImage source, Rex Features

We've got plenty of EFL action to come over the next few hours, but we're saving the best until last today, as the Championship's top two meet at The Hawthorns.

Despite winning just once in their past six games combined, West Brom and Leeds continue to look in full control of the division.

The pair are level on points, with Albion looking to go back up to the top after a run of three games without victory.

Leeds, meanwhile, are back in the Midlands for the second time in three days after a stunning 5-4 win at Birmingham City on Sunday.

If these two Premier League hopefuls serve up more of that today, then we're in for a real treat.

A handful of boos from the home fans at half-time.

Millwall have been outplayed for the last 20 minutes and Luton deservedly lead through Sonny Bradley's header.

We'll have three additional minutes at the end of the first half.

Kazenga Lua Lua is down and looks to be in a bit of pain as his captain Alan Sheehan catches him on the cheek in a midfield tussle.

It's been the perfect first half for Graeme Jones' side.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 41 mins

    Millwall 0-1 Luton

And now Millwall do make their change and it'll be a change of formation too as forward Tom Bradshaw comes on for defender Alex Pearce.

    I think they're swapping from a 3-4-3 to a 4-4-2.

  16. goal

GOAL: Millwall 0-1 Lutonpublished at 41 mins

    Sonny Bradley

Alan Sheehan finally gets it right with a set-piece and the ball falls perfectly for an unmarked Sonny Bradley who heads it into the bottom corner.

Luton deservedly lead and have scored the first EFL goal of the decade.

    No changes just yet.

    Meanwhile, dangerous free-kick for Luton....

  18. A chance to close the gappublished at 13:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 January 2020

    Fulham v Reading (15:00 GMT)

Fulham begin the day third in the table, nine points off the automatic promotion places and, with the top two facing each other later on, are guaranteed to cut the gap with a win today.

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Championship's top scorer this season with 18 goals.

They host a Reading side who are 14th, seven points adrift of the play-off spots, but did shock Preston with a 2-0 win at Deepdale last time out.

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

Kazenga Lua Lua has a shot from a long, long way out which Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski dives to keep out.

Hang on, I think Millwall are making a change.

Tom Bradshaw is on the touchline.

  20. CLOSE!published at 35 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Luton

    Another chance for Luton.

Callum McManaman curls in a cross which James Collins controls before laying the ball back to James Bree.

Bree does well to steer his volley on target but Lions keeper Bartosz Bialkowski is equal to it.

    Strugglers Luton are on top.
