  1. 'More to come' from Motherwellpublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2019

    Motherwell v Hearts (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson is convinced there's "more to come" from his high-flying young side.

The Steelmen have third place in their sights today as they look for another strong showing at Fir Park where they've won four of the last five.

“I genuinely think we can get better," Robinson tells BBC Sportsound. "When you rest on your laurels and believe you’re a good side, it bites you on the bum.

“I believe we’ll need to be better than the last two games to get a result today."

James Scott was the star man in midweek with a double to down St Mirren 3-0 and Robinson said of the 19-year-old: “He can be anything he wants. There’s lot he needs to add to his game – he needs to be more steely, he’s 6ft 2in and needs to be more physical.

"Talent alone, both feet, he’s quick and has everything. He needs to add end product and is starting to do that.

    Hibernian v Aberdeen (15:00)

Hibernian manager Jack Ross explains the change of goalkeeper, with Ofir Marciano replacing Chris Maxwell.

He tells BBC Scotland: "When I came in I was just trying to assess the goalkeeping situation. I've got three good goalkeepers and they've all trained well. I felt today was a good opportunity to get him [Ofir Marciano] back into the side.

"I've been really pleased with Vykintas Slivka but he's been a little bit fatigued, especially in the second half on Wednesday, so I've freshened it up.

"The consistency that Derek has achieved at Aberdeen is fantastic, he doesn't get the credit he deserves. We need to aspire to have the consistency.

"I've been pleased with how we've been playing but we've not got the points."

  4. 'Stephen tells good stories' - MacPheepublished at 14:37

    Motherwell v Hearts (15:00)

Despite Motherwell's "massive concern" over a bug that laid low five players this week, Stephen Robinson's line-up shows just one change from Wednesday night and it's no surprise to Hearts counterpart Austin MacPhee.

MacPhee tells BBC Sportsound: “I know Stephen quite well and he can tell some good stories. I’ve heard plenty about his paying career, how he was the best signing under Terry Venables, and the sickness bug is probably just an extension of that."

MacPhee takes charge of a sixth game as Hearts interim boss while the move to appoint Daniel Stendel drags on.

"We expect a new manager to be in place next week," MacPhee added. "We want to make sure whoever that is has an extra three points and we put in a strong performance today.

"The players are playing to impress the new guy and that will be an extra motivation.”

  5. Things can only get Berra?published at 14:33

    Motherwell v Hearts (15:00)

"The points show that. We need a big improvement in our performances in our games," said the defender.

"Individuals, everything, we need to gel as a team. There are a lot of games to still play for but the games start getting less and less. We need to make sure we are on it. We are in for a fight no matter what."

  6. Attacking intent in Hamiltonpublished at 14:30

    Hamilton v St Mirren (15:00)

Hamilton Accies boss Brian Rice speaking to BBC Sportsound: "It would be nice to win – our performances in the past couple of weeks have merited a win but football’s not like that. The onus is on us today to go and try to win the match and that’s something I always try to set my teams up to do.

"We’re at our best when we’re attacking."

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin: "It’s a very attacking minded team. I’m not interested in setting up negatively against Hamilton, it’s a game both teams will be trying to win. Draws aren’t good enough. These are the games we are going to be judged on. I believe we are capable of winning if we go about things properly."

It's difficult for Austin MacPhee as he's the public face of the club at the moment. He's the one in charge of the team going into the games and will also be the one facing the media and invariably, having to answer questions that he doesn't really know the answers to.
