    Man Utd 0-1 Man City

It is the 3,000 City fans making all the noise in here at the moment, understandably.

They've just followed a chorus of 'Bernardo' with 'Blue Moon' and they are clearly enjoying themselves at the moment.

You can analyse every goal scored in football till the cows come in but sometimes a proper player just snorts one in from a mile out and you just have to applaud. What a great goal.

  3. 'Wonderful strike from Bernardo Silva'published at 20:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2020

    Man Utd 0-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage

What a strike! He takes a good position - two, three, four touches. Nobody closed him down - it was wonderful from Bernardo Silva.

David de Gea had no chance.

  4. goal

GOAL - Manchester United 0-1 Manchester Citypublished at 17 mins

    Bernardo Silva

Wow! What a goal that is! Who needs centre-forwards anyway?!

Bernardo Silva picks the ball up just off the right wing, skips past Fred and as he weighs up the options ahead of him just thwacks a left-footed curler from 20-odd yards which flies past David de Gea and kisses the underside of the bar on its way in.

Just a glorious strike of a football.

Marcus Rashford is able to run at pretty much full pelt but on a few occasions now he's held the base of his back in pain. One to watch.

Rashford is not moving quite right - that would be a huge blow.

While I appreciate the sentiment, I just don't get playing Bravo ahead of Ederson in a game like this. Derby, semi final - play your best keeper. Hope it doesn't end up costing us.

For all the pre-match chat of empty seats it looks pretty full out there to me, and a very decent Old Trafford atmosphere too. City seeing plenty of the ball in their own half at the moment.

Their prime? Would all probably do a job at the moment.

  10. Giggs, Butt, Rooneypublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2020

I mentioned Wayne Rooney earlier on. Well he is sat in the directors' box next to Nicky Butt, who is sat next to Ryan Giggs.

How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could do with those three in their prime in the Manchester United side tonight.

A really good tempo to this game so far. Zipping along.

United now go direct - Fred hits the big ball over the top, Mason Greenwodd wins it in the air to flick it on and Marcus Rashford is almost on to it and in on goal.

Fernandinho thinks about a challenge and just about pulls out of it.

  13. 'Otamendi couldn't live with Rashford'published at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2020

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

United centre-backs Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones will be thinking they've got no-one to mark.

At the other end, that was shocking defending from Nicolas Otamendi. It was great play from Marcus Rashford - the City defender couldn't live with him. It was great defending from Fernandinho in the end.

A decent watch so far - City now break, Riyad Mahrez is the centre-forward on this occasion and finds Raheem Sterling on the left of the area, he cuts inside and runs into four or five red shirts and the chance is gone...

  15. James v Mendy, let battle commencepublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2020

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Raheem Sterling just yelled a few words of advice at Benjamin Mendy after the City left-back played his team into trouble with a ball back into his own box - and gestured for him to clear his lines next time.

Daniel James v Mendy is going to be an interesting battle down that flank tonight... as will Sterling versus Aaron Wan-Bissaka of course.

Mason Greenwood finds Marcus Rashford, whose touch on the run is electric, he flies past Nicolas Otamendi and puts it across goal. Fernandinho does brilliantly to get in the middle and flick it clear.

    Rashford's pace - electric!

The strikerless sensations win a corner, Mike Dean tucks his shirt in. Well cleared by Brandon Williams.

United find Daniel James on the right, his early cross is hard and low but Nicolas Otamendi is able to hack it clear at the second attempt. Marcus Rashford is limping a bit now.

    Manchester United 0-0 Manchester City

Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva as sort of a front two, it's befuddling our pundits if not the Manchester United defence in these early stages. The two of them are pressing from the word go, right in David de Gea's face.

  20. 'City have no striker'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 7 January 2020

    Man Utd 0-0 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Marcus Rashford is playing on the left for United and City are playing with no centre-forward. Riyad Mahrez is wide on the right and Raheem Sterling wide on the left. Kevin de Bruyne is playing the nearest to up front.
