    Adam Idah (2 mins)

No Pukki, no worries for Norwich as they take a very early lead indeed!

The Preston defence just goes AWOL allowing teenage striker Adam Idah to stride through the middle and as the keeper came out he just slid it into the back of the net.

It's his first goal for Norwich.

Newcastle head coach Steve Bruce speaking to BT Sport: "We should have been out of sight and therein lies our big problem - we don't score often enough. If you don’t take your chances this type of thing can happen in the cup.

"Rochdale made a cup tie of it. The loss of Almiron and Muto took the edge off us and all of a sudden we weren't a threat any more.

"In the first half I was delighted with them. We should have been out of sight, in my opinion. We didn’t take enough chances and we have to improve in that area.

"We’re still in the hat and in the draw. It’s the FA Cup. We’ll take it seriously, like I said from day one."

On Muto and Almiron injuries: "Muto has a hip injury, Almiron has a groin problem. We’ll not know the severity until tomorrow."

Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson speaking to BBC Sport: "Credit to my players, they kept going when they were 3-0 down to a Premier League team. It's difficult, there's no doubt about it.

"Ivan [Toney]'s goal gave us hope going into half-time and then we started again really well.

"We came off the pitch and got a good clap from our fans. We can take some positives out of the game, two goals.

"We've got to take a bit of belief out of it. For long periods of the game, we didn't look too much out of the game, but the start killed us.

"There were parts of the performance I liked."

This was the scene at Cardiff City Stadium just 10 minutes before kick-off.

Cardiff's record lowest attendance at this ground is the 4,111 who watched the Bluebirds lose to Luton in the EFL Cup earlier this season.

With only the Ninian Stand open this afternoon, that record could be under threat today.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce speaking to Match of the Day: "We knew Rochdale would try and do something the second half and they punished us.

"Credit to [Rochdale goalscorer] Aaron Wilbraham - he's been around longer than I have!

"We don't score enough goals. The number of chances we had today, we should’ve taken them. It gave Rochdale encouragement and they made it a cup tie in the second half.

"The loss of Muto and Almiron was big. Muto looks a little bit serious. He was in distress in the dressing room. When you're playing people fatigued, this can happen.

"We’re still in the hat and that’s the important thing. Ollie Rathbone had that chance at the end and we could've been out, so it's a positive we are still in with a shout."

  14. 'Second half felt more like us'published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    FT: Rochdale 1-1 Newcastle

Rochdale manager Brian Barry-Murphy speaking to BT Sport: "I probably didn’t make the players aware of a number of tactical points in the first half, which I got wrong. It just felt more like us in the second half. In the first half we were a little bit shell-shocked and almost forgot to play.

"It was a different feeling for our lads in the second half, they just felt more comfortable in the game and adjusted to the pace of Newcastle."

On earning a replay at St James' Park: "We don’t complain about the fixture congestion. We relish it in the cup. It’s what the club’s about and we’re delighted for that to continue.

"We've had a great season in a lot of ways. In the past we’ve always used the cup as a building block for our league performances. I very much believe that will be the case this time."

Burnley manager Sean Dyche speaking to BBC Sport: "It was a good performance. Darren [Ferguson] has got a good side and we know they are good offensively.

"We knew we could affect them offensively and we did very early in the game.

"We've had a tough period, and there wasn't any sign of that. It was a very confident performance.

"I thought the energy of the side was important, to go out on front foot.

"It was a very professional performance from all involved.

"We've had a tough Christmas spell and we've got tough games coming, but we took today seriously and we'll be looking for that again [in the fourth round]."

Fulham and Aston Villa last met in the FA Cup in January 1999, with the Cottagers winning 2-0 at Villa Park as a third-tier side.

Villa's line-up was pretty strong as well, Gareth Southgate, Paul Merson and Gareth Barry all played but were done by goals from Simon Morgan and Steve Hayward.

The Kevin Keegan era and days of simple pleasures like spraying a water bottle in celebration, if we're not mistaken!
