If Newcastle had a little bit more quality in the final third, this game would have been over by now. Steve Bruce will be a little bit disappointed it's only one goal but Brian Barry-Murphy will be delighted.

    Total domination from Newcastle.

Rochdale's right back Tyler Magloire has been given the runaround by Christian Atsu and boss Brian Barry Murphy decides to put him out of his misery. He is replaced by Luke Matheson who you might recognise from scoring a goal at Manchester United in the League Cup earlier this season.

    Rotherham 1-1 Hull

Michael Ihiekwe is in a good position to put a ball in the box on the right but he ends up firing it straight out for a goalkick.

    Waste.

  5. CLOSE!published at 13:05 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Birmingham 1-0 Blackburn

Stewart Downing, yes, he's still around, swings a curling ball into the box which is just inches away from the toe of Sam Gallagher.

    That was almost the equaliser!

Here was Burnley's second. They have a comfortable three-goal lead at Turf Moor now.

    Birmingham 1-0 Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers' captain Elliott Bennett receives treatment on the pitch before hobbling away with a member of the medical staff.

They aren't preparing a substitution so it looks like he will stay on. One to run off!

If you're Steve Bruce now you'll want the players to keep dominating possession, keep pushing and kill this game by half-time, because it's on for them. They don't want to come out for the second half at one nil and come off the pace and give Rochdale a little bit of encouragement. Although Rochdale can't play as bad as they have done this first half.

Replying to Matthew Knights (12:51 GMT)

Dave Payn: Bang on. How can you have extra officials at some games in the same competition, and not others? Absolute height of stupidity. If there isn’t the facility for VAR for the whole of the FA Cup then it shouldn’t be used at all.

Djamel Makhlouf: Absolutely no question. The minimum is that VAR should only be used if it can be used at every game in a round, but honestly it should be every game in a tournament!

    Millwall 1-0 Newport

Chance for Millwall as the ball falls to Jon Dadi Bodvarsson inside the box but his shot doesn't have enough power on it to trouble Tom King in the Newport goal.

  13. RED CARD - Adam Thompsonpublished at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Rotherham 1-1 Hull

Oh this isn't nice to see. Adam Thompson comes crashing into Brandon Fleming - completely unnecessarily - and he's shown a straight red.

    Rochdale 0-1 Newcastle

    Neil Johnston

No surprise about the goal. Rochdale have afforded Newcastle too much respect and Miguel Almiron was left unmarked when he leathered pasted Robert Sanchez.

The League One club need to respond - Newcastle are dominating.

Not much to report from Ashton Gate. Bristol City have dealt with an enthusiastic start by the visitors and are starting to impose themselves on this game as Marley Watkins flicks an effort just over following good work by Niclas Eliasson.

    Oh Joelinton!

Really should have got that on target.

  18. goal

GOAL - Burnley 3-0 Peterboroughpublished at 12:55 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Jeff Hendrick (23 mins)

A shot is fired in from just outside the box by Jeff Hendrick and it takes a huge deflection off Peterborough captain Mark Beevers.

There's nothing the keeper can do about it and it's a third for Burnley, who are really racing away now.

And this was Burnley's opener. They are still on top at Turf Moor but Peterborough debutant Reece Brown has just fired a dangerous ball across the face of goal, which flew inches wide of the left post.

Brian Barry-Murphy has switched the wingers now. He's brought Stephen Dooley over to the left-hand side but he probably should've done that 15 minutes ago.
