    Rochdale 0-1 Newcastle

The Newcastle fans are all you can hear since their side took the lead. Dare they dream of a cup run? Their side has not been past the FA Cup fourth round since 2006.

Rochdale can barely put a couple of passes together. Total domination from the visitors.

Great worked goal. We've been talking this last ten minutes about the left-hand side and Atsu gets the run again and every time he's beaten the full-back and this time he picks out the right player. Great first touch by Almiron and a lovely finish. Newcastle deserve that.

Good defending by Jayson Molumby as he stands his ground to prevent Padraig Amond getting a shot off. Decent response by the visitors.

Birmingham have a free-kick on the left which they lift into the box. There's a bit of a scramble before Blackburn eventually clear.

    Tom Eaves (16 mins)

    Too easy!

Daniel Batty gets away on the right and he just slides it across the six-yard box for Tom Eaves to poke into the net.

    Simples.

GOAL - Rochdale 0-1 Newcastlepublished at 12:49 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Miguel Almiron (17 mins)

    It has been coming!

Rochdale are punished for not snuffing out the threat of Christian Atsu and no surprise that he is the architect of the goal as he once again brushes off his marker down the flank and cuts the ball back for Miguel Almiron, who takes a touch before smashing into the roof of the net.

Christian Atsu is getting the run of this left-hand side. Kwadwo Baah is finding it difficult to track him and when he does track, Atsu goes past him so easily. Brian Barry-Murphy has got to look at this and maybe change it to a 4-5-1 to try and stop this left-hand side.

    Rochdale 0-0 Newcastle

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Spotland

There's a terrific atmosphere inside the ground and most of the noise is coming from Newcastle's travelling support after a lively start by the Premier League club,

Christian Atsu is being given far too much space on the wing but Robert Sanchez has yet to be seriously tested in the Rochdale goal.

Newcastle's starting line-up - and the way they have started - suggests they are serious about a decent FA Cup run this season.

    Rochdale 0-0 Newcastle

Christian Atsu is absolutely bossing the left side of the pitch - Rochdale just cannot handle him. The forward breezes past his marker once again before cutting the ball back for Matty Longstaff, whose shot is deflected behind.

Rochdale's Tyler Magloire then whacks the ball away from danger. He wellies it so much it ends up flying out of the stadium and lands near the chippy outside the ground.

  14. goal

GOAL - Burnley 2-0 Peterboroughpublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Erik Pieters

    You beauty!!

It's Erik Pieters' first for the club and he's absolutely smashed it into the bottom right corner from a good 25 yards out on the half volley.

It's a poor clearance from Peterborough and Pieters just sprints onto it, lets it bounce once and then hammers it.

    NICE.

Nice from Kyle Vassell, who makes space for himself to shoot in the box - cutting onto his left foot before firing over the bar.

It's always rising but it's a decent effort.

    Chris Waddle

Rochdale finally got the ball down and strung three or four passes together to question this Newcastle back three. Rochdale have got to relax. I know it's a big game - Newcastle are a Premier League team with a big following - but they have got to relax and show what they can do.

  18. CLOSE!published at 12:44 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Peterborough

The Premier League side are well on top. Another chance goes begging as Christy Pym is forced into a low save to his right after a ricochet in the box.

Johann Gudmundsson is following up and is inches away from getting a toe on it but Pym bounces up and scrambles it in, just in time!

Birmingham allow Blackburn to pass it around at the back before pouncing with the high press. Their gameplan is working very well at the moment.
