    Man City 2-1 Port Vale

David Worrall almost gets in behind Manchester City but it's good defending by Oleksandr Zinchenko to block his path.

Vale still having a go when they can.

  2. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Bournemouth 1-0 Luton Town

We were late getting under way on the south coast and Bournemouth waste no time in getting a shot away - Harry Wilson whistles one wide.

  3. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Man City 2-1 Port Vale

A low cross from the left, Sergio Aguero alive in the box to collect... he can only find room to stand up a cross and Bernardo Silva heads across goal and it flicks the post.

Scott Brown may have got a finger on it to divert it onto the post. He definitely gets a strong hand to parry a Phil Foden volley moments later.

    Tremendous by the away stopper.

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

Sergio Romero is carrying on but it's his left hamstring which is the issue. Not sure he'll be able to kick it, and as I say that he makes a save!

Pedro Neto gets a shot off form the edge of the area and Romero just about deals with it. Didn't look so sharp...

    Leicester 2-0 Wigan

Things are a touch delayed at Leicester as the home team seem to be taking an age to come back out.

For now, take a look at how Harvey Barnes put them two up.

I think he's going to be OK but Lee Grant is warming up.

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

Wolves look much better already with their main man up front, two crosses come into the area in a flash and Manchester United have to defend stoutly. They do so.

    FT: Southampton 2-0 Huddersfield

    Southampton

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl: "I'm happy for [the youngsters] to help bring us into the next round. The most important thing today was to have a serious performance, because it's a very important competition for us.

"It wasn't always perfect and you couldn't expect that, but all the players are playing fantastically and I think they did a good job today.

"Finally after a busy Christmas period it's a nice finish."

  10. 'I'm proud of the players' endeavours'published at 18:34 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    FT: Southampton 2-0 Huddersfield

    Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley: "Away at a Premier League side, you have to take your chances when they come. Fair play to Southampton, they have real athleticism at the top end of the pitch, but we'll take confidence from today.

"I'm proud of the players' endeavours, particularly after five games in 14 days. We knew we had to protect the space behind our defence, so we defended deeper but with intensity.

"The only difference between today and the win at Brentford, in terms of performance, was that we didn't find the goal."

We'll just leave this with you as FA Cup holders Manchester City jog back out.

Port Vale have faced the FA Cup holders twice in their history and eliminated them both times - Blackpool in 1953-54 and Everton in 1995-96.

Imagine how happy Vale's most famous fan Robbie Williams would be. He'd have too much life, running through his veins, going to waste.

Raul Jimenez is on for Benny Ashley-Seal.

Jimenez scored in the FA Cup tie last year. I wonder if this will be significant.

  14. Vale fans get a chance to sit downpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

The Port Vale fans were on their feet to cheer their side off at the break - they didn't spend much time in their seats during the first half to be honest, so they probably could do with a sit down now.

Plenty for them to look forward to in the second half too. Yes, the holders are dominating possession and they have also created most of the chances, but if Vale can get a ball or two into the City box then Tom Pope will be waiting for another chance to steal a yard or two on Taylor Harwood-Bellis, who is half his age.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:31 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

Raul Jimenez is coming on at the break for Wolves, the game needed that. He'll replace Benny Ashley-Seal.

    HT: Leicester 2-0 Wigan

    Andy Reid
Ex-Nottingham Forest and Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Leicester have been very good and professional so far. The rotation between the front three has been too much for Wigan to handle at times, so Brendan Rodgers will be really pleased. The only downside has been the injury to Wes Morgan.

Paul Cook will pleased in some ways by Wigan's performance, I think they've done ok and tried when they could. They have just unfortunately come against a Leicester side that are far superior.

Kumaran Ravendradas: I've been a staunch supporter of Ole but this game has left me a bit flummoxed. It looks like we have two players attacking on the right in Chong and Greenwood and Mata playing almost as a centre forward?! What's going on?! Madness!

Matt: What has happened to Matic? Seems scared to make a forward pass nowadays.

Aashish: Aimless, meandering and windscreen wiper football from Utd, dull City.

Anon: Not sure how many different wavelengths there are on a football field but the Man Utd players appear to have each tuned in to a different one.

  20. 'I am sure we will fill Prenton Park'published at 18:28 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Watford 3-3 Tranmere

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon: "The players went out in the second half and delivered a fantastic performance."

On the VAR decisions that favoured his team: "My view on VAR is that people need to start defending better. If you defend well then there's no need for VAR, but if you start diving in and not defending well at set-pieces then VAR will catch you."

On Mullin's penalty: "He's a confident lad. He's come on that stage and scores a penalty that is so important."

On the Hornets making nine changes to their XI: "Watford are a Premier League club. Every player is a Premier League player. You know it's going to be very difficult. We were shown that in first half when we probably showed them too much respect."

On the replay: "We're massive underdogs but I am sure we will fill Prenton Park."
