    Bournemouth 1-0 Luton Town

Not sure what started that but it's all kicking off at the far post between Philip Billing and Luton captain Alan Sheehan. Sheehan is giving away a fair bit of reach but stays involved as it threatens to boil over but in the end it's quietened down. Yellow cards all round.

  2. goal

GOAL: Leicester 2-0 Wiganpublished at 40 mins

    Harvey Barnes

This is cruel. Wigan nearly level, Leicester punish them at the other end.

Gavin Massey's low cross needed to be turned away bravely by Danny Ward in the Leicester goal and within seconds the Foxes are in at the other end, where Harvey Barnes notches with the aid of a deflection.

It's a bit harsh but in truth they went through Wigan like a hot knife through butter.

You wouldn't guess it by watching them play but Lindelof and Maguire are the most expensive centre back pairing ever. In history. Of all time.

Here is a man currently in love with the FA Cup.

    Wolves 0-0 Man Utd

Wolves got the better of that VAR decision but still their fans sang an abusive song about it afterwards.

They will not easily forget the Manchester City penalty VAR gave here on 27 December and then two days later at Anfield having an equaliser disallowed for a marginal offside decision.

I don't see many hearts and minds being won over here any time soon.

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

Ruben Neves is allowed space to shoot from a corner but clumps it wide on this occasion. This game needs a big spark, as Daniel James fires wide at the other end.

United clearly haven't learnt their lesson by the games against wolves. Offering neves space on the edge of the box with every corner is so dangerous.

  8. goal

GOAL: Man City 1-1 Port Valepublished at 35 mins

    Tom Pope

There are 8,000 Port Vale fans jumping up and down at the Etihad.

This is the man who put out a summer tweet stating he would score 40 a season if he played against John Stones every week.

Stones is not the man he beats in the air but regardless, it's a superbly taken header. Pope gets across his man, glances it and it's past Claudio Bravo easily.

That noise you can hear is the script being ripped up.

Khurshid Patel: Does Man United have any game-plan? I don’t see no one in box when they go to wings or byline.

Dave: Most teams would give anything to have a keeper as good as Romero as their number 1, let alone a reserve. Time to give him a run as first choice.

    Bournemouth 1-0 Luton Town

Luton are having more than their fair share as Elliot Lee whistles a shot over from 20 yards.

    Leicester 1-0 Wigan

    Andy Reid
Ex-Nottingham Forest and Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Despite the scoreline Wigan have tried the keep the ball against Leicester and play a bit of football. They haven't just sat back but actually tried to get on the front foot from the midfield upwards. It's been a positive enough start for Wigan so far.

  12. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Man City 1-0 Port Vale

Still no goals between Fleetwood and Portsmouth. Oleksandr Zinchenko has goals on his mind having bagged the opener at the Etihad. He has another go from range but this time a deflection takes it wide.

João Cancelo gets into a good area and can drill a low cross into a danger area, well blocked at the near post.

The term 'bodies on the line' comes to mind for Port Vale here.

  13. VAR

Video Assistant Referee Checkpublished at 32 mins

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

VAR will have a look at that, and rightly so - and they say no penalty!

I have to say that was a very good shout indeed. Leander Dendoncker didn't get the ball.

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 30 mins

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

I've never known a weekend with so many injuries. Harry Maguire now appears to be struggling as Phil Jones is sent out to warm up.

Brandon Williams then bursts into the Wolves area and goes down - no penalty given...

  15. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Bournemouth 1-0 Luton Town

Chris Mepham has been able to carry on for the Cherries, by the way. Luton go close next as Jacob Buttterfield curls over.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 26 mins

    Leicester 1-0 Wigan

Wes Morgan needs to go off so Caglar Soyuncu is coming on.

Morgan, now 35, pulled up injured as he tried to track back and chase Josh Windass.

  17. Man Utd don't have much inventionpublished at 17:58 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Wolves 0-0 Man Utd

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Molineux

This is not a new observation but there is not much invention in the Manchester United team.

Daniel James has lightening pace of course and Mason Greenwood does have an obvious eye for goal but it is not clear to see how United could prise the Wolves defence open.

  18. What a miss...published at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 4 January 2020

    Man City 1-0 Port Vale

Dear me, David Silva has won World Cups no less and he's just missed from two yards.

He's at the back stick, the ball is cut across goal for him and he almost kicks down on it, so it bounces up, touches the top of the bar and goes over.

One-way traffic as you'd expect. We may need the abacus if City rattle a couple more in before the break.

  19. ouch!

    Postpublished at 25 mins

    Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Manchester United

This would be a real shame. 21-year-old Benny Ashley-Seal is being given a chance up front for Wolves tonight and has started pretty well, but just indicated to the bench that he's not feeling well. Can he carry on?

Theo: If Mason Greenwood doesn’t represent England it will be a national disaster... I’m a City fan

Thomas Crossman: Honestly wouldn't mind at all if De Gea was dropped for Romero. De Gea hasn't been on it for over a year, maybe some time on the bench could do him some good, and Romero is a more than capable to play more regularly.
