  8. 'Felipe Anderson one to watch'published at 18:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Gillingham v West Ham (18:16 GMT)

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder on BBC 5 Live

Felipe Anderson is one player I watch with anticipation thinking 'what is he going to do?'. He's got everything, all the skills and flair but he's underachieved so could he be one that shows his true potential in this game?

The players are out on the pitch. It's a sellout at Priestfield. Decent atmosphere in Kent.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talking to Match of the Day: "They played brave football. Unbelievable individual performances from the kids and the adults as well.

"Adam Lallana - what a game, unbelievable. Joe Gomez - organising the whole defence for maybe the first time in his life.

"Sensational game and a sensational goal from a Scouser - who could ask for more? You cannot perform like the boys performed if you think you should not perform in that team.

"They all think like that. I am so happy they all showed up tonight. The only thing I didn't want was a draw. We had to take some risks and it paid off."

Probably the worst Everton team I've seen in ages and I'm not a fan of either , no urgency or vision and it could be another 20 years before they win there.

  14. What the managers saypublished at 18:09 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Gillingham v West Ham (18:16 GMT)

Gillingham manager Steve Evans: “I want us to test ourselves and we know at the back of our minds if they come and they’re at it, they will be difficult to overcome.

“However, we also know that it’s the magic of the cup and if they come down and we’re at our best, then it’s cup shock time.”

West Ham manager David Moyes: "I’m fresh and ready to go. I’ve only had one game, I don’t feel tired, I feel ready and I’m hoping a lot of what the players get is from the manager as well.

"If I can give them energy and confidence, then hopefully those players will not show any sign of fatigue.

"Everybody wants to win the cup. My intention is to have everybody out there firing and try to build on the performance we had the other night."

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC One

It's not easy being an Everton fan at the moment seeing how well Liverpool are doing and the club being in transition. Hopefully Carlo Ancelotti can get the funds he needs to make the signings he wants and can bring Everton back where we need to be.

  17. 'It's massive for me'published at 18:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

    FT: Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool scorer Curtis Jones: "The ball came to me and I only had one thing in mind – to shoot. Luckily enough it led to the match-winner and a great goal.

"It’s massive for me and the rest of the young boys. At times it’s frustrating thinking you might get a chance but then having to sit on the bench and watch. We proved that we’re learning every day and trying to push for a place in the team.

"I dream of a lot of things but this one was ahead of a dream."

  18. 'I fancy us'published at 18:07 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Gillingham v West Ham (18:16 GMT)

Gillingham are only 12th in League One, but are on a good run of form, on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Gills midfielder Olly Lee, whose father Rob used to play for West Ham, is in confident mood.

“They’re an established Premier League side, but every dog has its day.

"We look forward to it, and it’s a chance for us as players to test ourselves against the best and see where we’re at. I fancy us.”

  19. 'Boy has Jones taken his opportunity'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

    Liverpool 1-0 Everton

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle and England striker on Match of the Day Live

What about Curtis Jones' confidence saying he was frustrated that he can't get an opportunity in this Liverpool side.

Well he has had one today and boy has he taken it. What a finish that was, the keeper had no chance with that. On a postage stamp, isn't it.

  20. Can Moyes make it two from two?published at 18:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2020

Gillingham v West Ham (18:16 GMT)

West Ham will be confident of extending their record in David Moyes' second spell to two wins from two.

He replaced the sacked Manuel Pellegrini in late December.

The Hammers beat Bournemouth 4-0 in Moyes' opening game in charge, with Mark Noble scoring twice.

"Bournemouth is only one game but it was certainly a really good start, and it was big credit to the players and the way they went about it," Moyes said.

"Every day we’re trying to improve - progress is something we’re really trying to get and building on that first game.
