Finally West Ham have possession of the ball but can they keep it and kill the tempo? Can they get Snodgrass, Lanzini on the ball? They need to get people on the ball because so far, they've just been doing square passes and not getting anywhere.

A niche throw-in from Gillingham's Connor Ogilvie. It goes into play but then the wind blows it out for a West Ham throw-in.

Arthur Masuaku overhits a cross from the left which goes over to the other West Ham wing-back Ryan Fredericks - and his cross is caught by Gillingham keeper Jack Bonham.

West Ham can't quite clear and Connor Ogilvie's pot-shot from 30 yards out is held by Lukasz Fabianski.

The Hammers are struggling to get past halfway.

Pretty ridiculous. Thomas O'Connor backheels the free-kick to Olly Lee, but the West Ham wall are able to close down and block his shot. It was a direct free-kick, no need to roll the ball to Lee.

Gillingham don't hang about and Masuaku was under pressure, got a little kick and limped away. That doesn't set a good tone for West Ham and if I was Gillingham, I would be doing that again to him. Test him out and see if he's got the metal for this game.

This is their best corner so far as Olly Lee's cross flies across the six-yard box but nobody is able to get a touch onto it.

Gillingham are first to every 50-50 at the moment, they win the ball back on the halfway line and win their fourth corner.

Another Connor Ogilvie throw-in but West Ham get the ball. They try to counter quickly but it's good defending by Barry Fuller to stop the attack.

Gillingham's corner is garbage and West Ham get it away.

I think Steve Evans will be please with the start Gillingham have made. They have had a couple of crosses in, have been bright with a couple of interceptions across the middle of the pitch. West Ham are going to try and work them and concentration levels have got to be high.

Gillingham keep the pressure on and Connor Ogilvie's long throw-in is headed behind for another corner.
