  1. 'Arsenal on the right path'published at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

    Burnley v Arsenal (14:00 GMT)

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta: "Turf Moor is one of the most English grounds. What they do, they do it really well, they are specialists to do that.

"The type of game they want to play makes it really difficult for the opponent so we need to be ready for a battle, be clever, take the game where we want and go there with complete focus and energy and a very clear plan because if not, they are very hard to deal with.

"We are in the right path. The two weeks after Dubai [Arsenal's winter training camp] will help accelerate that and I'm happy where I am."

Both James Tarkowski and Ben Mee would get into the Arsenal back four, in particular Tarkowski. He is a really good defender, I like him a lot. He is strong, he heads the ball, he can even play out from the back. They complement each other really well, one right-footed and one left-footed. So I think they would both get into the Arsenal defence.

I would rather play against David Luiz and Mustafi (than Burnley's centre-back pairing James Tarkowski and Ben Mee). They will always give you a chance, purely because they like to play out from the back. Tarkowski and Mee know how to defend and they clear their lines. I'm not saying Luiz and Mustafi are bad defenders but they would give me a chance. I have got a chance to bully them, whereas Mee and Tarkowski are stronger.

  4. 'Coming back to Turf Moor with feather in our cap'published at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

    Burnley v Arsenal (14:00 GMT)

Burnley boss Sean Dyche hopes wins over Leicester and Manchester United can help them end their Arsenal hoodoo.

Arsenal and promoted Sheffield United are the only current top-flight teams that Burnley have not beaten in the Premier League.

But they had not won at Old Trafford since 1952 before a 2-0 success against United 11 days ago.

“We’ve come off the back of two good wins in the league and deserved in different ways – especially the one at Old Trafford,” said Dyche.

“We’re coming back to Turf Moor with that feather in our cap and a great feeling in the crowd because a lot of them witnessed that and will have taken it on and brought the stories back home.

“It’s been two really good wins and important wins, of course. If we could take on a third, especially against a team that has had a different kind of season this season but is really thought of a top-six club, that would be very pleasing for all.”

Arsenal have won their last 11 games against Burnley in all competitions.

The Clarets have not taken the lead once in their past 11 league games.

The last time Burnley beat Arsenal in the top flight was in 1974.

Sean Dyche has lost all nine Premier League matches against Arsenal, a joint record for a manager against one team.

Burnley have lost all four home league fixtures so far against the 'top six' by an aggregate score of 3-13.

Arsenal are unbeaten in six away league games, drawing each of the last four.

They have not drawn five consecutive away league matches since August 1948.

But Burnley have not drawn in the past 17 league matches - winning seven and losing 10.

Arsenal have 12 points from their last 11 league fixtures - five under Freddie Ljungberg and six under Mikel Arteta. That is the same tally as Unai Emery managed over his final 11 matches before being sacked.

Wedgers asks a decent question there.

You'd think at this stage with sports science, clubs would be giving players personalised shower gel to match their skins pH levels or whatever.

Ollie: Really curious (as a Spurs fan): what do Arsenal fans make of this team? A good keeper and a goalscorer. Bellerin is a good player. Ozil & Laca have huge ability. But Mustafi, Luiz, Guendouzi & Xhaka as the spine? Really?

Joe Wedgwood: What do footballers actually carry in the enormous toiletries bags they always bring to matches. Do clubs just not provide enough soap and shampoo?

    Burnley v Arsenal (14:00 GMT)

I thought maybe Alexandre Lacazette might not have played today. I thought they might have played Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on his own through the middle.

But I can see why he is playing them together. They are good friends off the pitch, they get on, they like playing with each other.

So I can see why he's changed it and dropped Nicolas Pepe as Gabriel Martinelli has been a little sensation. He looks really sharp, so I think it is the right decision.

You've got to bring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back into the team for certain. Gabriel Martinelli has hit a rich vein of form recently. He is very well-liked, I think he is going to be real talent for them going forward.

Mesut Ozil is the one for me. You are looking at the type of game - Burnley away. They are going to target him, they are going to put him under pressure, they are going to be physical with him.

So there was one option possibly there but I think he has probably gone with the right call [in dropping Nicolas Pepe].

I know Burnley went out of the FA Cup against Norwich but they had a couple of excellent results in the Premier League before then, against Leicester and Manchester United.

I am still not sure how Arsenal nicked a point against Chelsea in their last league game but at least it shows they have got something about them under their new manager Mikel Arteta.

This is a big test for Arteta, though. There is a reason why Burnley have established themselves in the Premier League, and it is because their blueprint works.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-1

It won't be hard for Burnley to improve on their recent results against Arsenal, having done nothing but lose to them for the last 10 years! The theory of a bogey side has certainly been given credence by this fixture.

With the two sides on the same number of points and with the visitors having won just two league games on their travels this campaign, perhaps this may offer the Clarets their best opportunity to finally bring this incredibly bleak sequence to an end.

Back-to-back league wins have dramatically improved Burnley's chances of ending the hoodoo, but with the visitors unbeaten in their last eight away games in all competitions it will be anything but a formality.
