Really impressive start by England. The mix of Phil Foden, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling is working well and Kalvin Phillips very calm in possession.

Nerves are all about the build-up and what people make of the game. This team have come out fearless in my opinion. I think for most players once you get that first touch and a bit of fresh air you're good to go, you're in game mode.

It's Kalvin Phillips involved again, winning the ball high up the pitch from Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic, but the ref feels it was done illegally.

I think Harry Kane went too early. It's one of those ones where you just give them a little look the player on the ball, but he just went too soon Harry Kane.

Mike Hall: I can't see Trippier staying at right-back in the second half. It's an obvious mistake. We can't pass out from the back on the left.

Callum Williamson: Amazing how much better England are when the manager picks the form players - well done Gareth Southgate.

Max: Very assured start for England so far, totally in control. You can’t ask for more than this

England have started the game really well. They're even mixing up the attacks there. Jordan Pickford with the longer ball in behind and with a couple of balls in behind this Croatia defence. It just forces them to drop if they think the ball is continuously going to be getting dropped over them with the likes of Sterling and Foden that can cause problems.

Phil Foden's early effort saw him become the first player to hit the woodwork at Euro 2020.

The Manchester City man would have preferred his shot to have been a few inches to the right to get England off to the perfect start.

He's had a good start to the game Kalvin Phillips. He'll be one of the names Gareth Southgate would have been questioning should he start him, should he not, should he go with more experience but less fit Jordan Henderson. But he seems up for it today.

Gareth Southgate's team selection looking alright at the moment, eh?

Plenty of chances in the opening 10 minutes, yet to break the deadlock though.

  20. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    England 0-0 Croatia

    It's all England.

The Three Lions recycle a corner and Leeds man Kalvin Phillips lets fly with a volley from outside the box which Dominik Livakovic has to save low down.

Again, the rebound does not fall to a white shirt.
