Raheem Sterling has been a real thorn in their side. You can see it is hand ball from Caleta-Car. He's panicking. Every time Raheem has done that, they don't know how to live with him/. He's been the one player that has really took the game at the top end of the pitch.

Now then, great opportunity this for England as Raheem Sterling frightens Duje Caleta-Car with a run in behind and the Croatia defender can only stick out an arm to handle the ball.

Yellow for DCC and a free-kick right on the edge of the box for England.

It's a good run. Kalvin Phillips just takes it a little bit too quick. It was needed at the time, a lot of players were just standing and looking at Tripper. It needed that run from deep. I'm enjoying how he's adapted that midfield role. It was important for the structure and how the midfield worked.

Gone rather flat now after that bright start.

Can England find that inspiration to go again?

The more you can get the ball to Sterling and Foden, the more things are going to happen in this game. You've just got to give them the ball.

You want a result. There aren't many classics in the first round of games [at a major tournament].

The good thing for England is Croatia don't really have a centre-forward. They're moving the ball around but they don't really have an end product.

If you want an indication of how this first 35 minutes or so has panned out take a ganders at this heatmap.

The one on the left shows where England players have spent most of this half, while the one of the right is looking a little healthier for Croatia after the last few minutes.

England are a little bit rattled after coming under some pressure. They need to regroup. Luka Modric is getting passes in and nobody is getting close to him - that's the reason the anxiety from the England team has set in. They need to get tighter to him.

Sometimes as a player as a team it takes you a while to figure things out. As high as Kalvin Phillips was playing surprised me a little bit.

Maybe in that midfield for Croatia they've had half an hour hanging on whilst they figure out the formation of England, but they're definitely coming into it these last few minutes.
