Paul Pogba and Toni Kroos is an interesting battle. They are niggling at each other. The ball is nowhere near them but they chatting and pointing at each other. Who is going to take charge of that midfield?

Stephen McCormack: England's likely reward if they win their group: one of France, Germany or Portugal. Can we have a re-draw please?

    France 1-0 Germany

France lure you into a false sense of security.

It's all very languid in the defensive third and middle of the park but suddenly they move it quickly in attack and they're into the Germany box.

This time a pass is cut out by Antonio Rudiger.

Eventually, Kroos will get one of these free kicks just outside the box right. Be warned, Les Bleus.

The scoreline France 1-0 Germany despite the match being played in Munich is annoying me sooo much!

Joshua Kimmich sprints over to the referee begging for a penalty.

Give over, clearly hits N'Golo Kante on the chest.

It's been all Germany after the goal, they've responded well but are yet to work Hugo Lloris.

This time Toni Kroos beats the wall, but the goal and Hugo Lloris too.

    Into the stand it sails.

Germany have another free-kick in presentable territory, can they make anything from this one?

It is really unfortunate for Mats Hummels. Germany have looked really organised. It was a great pass from Paul Pogba to Lucas Hernandez. It was really pinged in at Hummels, he should have cleared that.

If you put the ball in the right area you just never know.

Mats Hummels has scored Germany's first ever own goal at the European Championships.

Well they are known for their efficiency.

That's three own goals in 12 games at Euro 2020, which is already the joint-most in a single Euros tournament (there were also three in 2016).

Toni Kroos' free-kick is straight into a hefty France wall.

Think it was Paul Pogba, does he improve in a French shirt compared to a United one? Is he happier?

A chance for an immediate leveller as N'Golo Kante trips Ilkay Gundogan on the edge of the box.

A good reaction from Germany after falling behind.

Robin Gosen clips in a cross which Thomas Muller meets with a free header but the Bayern forward can only head wide.

    Now we have a game.

    Mats Hummels (own goal)

    Breakthrough!

    STOP IT Paul Pogba, please.

The Manchester United midfielder creates this goal with a sumptuous outside-of-the-foot pass spun out wide to Lucas Hernandez.

The Bayern Munich man on home turf volleys a pullback across the box, Mats Hummels sticks out a leg and can only divert the ball into his own net.

A nightmare for the defender returning to his old stomping ground.

Some bizarre scenes just before kick-off. A protester parachuted into the stadium but clipped one of the lines controlling the overhead camera.

Fortunately they were able to steer themselves away from the supporters and land on the pitch, where they were escorted away by security.

Kylian Mbappe has had six touches of the ball so far. Only the two goalkeepers have had fewer.

Still he served a warning of what he can do a moment ago.

Better from the French and the wonderkid Kylian Mbappe is seen for the first time, cutting onto his right peg and curling a strike which Manuel Neuer beats away.
