  1. 'We could've come away with more' - Robertsonpublished at 22:17 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    FT: England 0-0 Scotland

    Scotland

Scotland captain Andy Robertson speaking to ITV: "Yeah we did [deserve the win] - I don't think many can argue that we had the big chances, at times we kept the ball superbly well, frustrated them. On another night we could've came away with more - but we take a point, keeps us alive, it's important to use this feeling and the fans being happy into Tuesday and try and use it to get a positive result."

On Billy Gilmour: "Right up there [as one of the best performances in a Scotland shirt] - spoke to him in hotel today and just looked at him and nothing phases him. I believe he can have as many caps as he wants for Scotland, he has a huge future ahead but the here and now is pretty good as well."

On England substitutions: "Harry [Kane] is one of those players you have to keep a watch on, there's a few out there, Phil Foden we kept him quiet and Raheem Sterling. The whole crowd erupted when Jack Grealish came on but we managed to keep him quiet as well down that right hand side. It's important that it's not a pointless result, we need to use it and get out of this group."

  2. 'England weren't good enough'published at 22:15 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    Jack Wilshere
Ex-England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

One thing that Gareth's done has got that message across after games. Sometimes we haven't played well and won games. Scotland are going to get the plaudits, England weren't good enough but move on. Tournament football is all about building momentum. We haven't done that but we have a game in a few days and we go again.

With the way that social media is today the players will go to their rooms, they will sit in their bed and read their phones. That's the world we live in. They will read the negative comments and it's all about how it affects the individual. I'm pretty sure Harry Kane won't let it affect him and he will try and improve, but I feel the team around him needs to improve as well. Kane is someone who feeds off other players. He's a world class player and in times, world class players do what the game needs and at the minute he's dropping in to pick the ball up and I feel we need to get him higher up the pitch because it's not working at the minute.

The Scots haven't left Wembley yet, I don't think they're going to make it back up north until next week.

    They're currently serenading full-back Stephen O'Donnell.

  5. 'We should have done more'published at 22:11 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    England

England defender Tyrone Mings tells BBC Sport: "Disappointing of course because we know we can play better. The important thing for us as defender and as a team going forward into the tournament, we kept another clean sheet which is a positive.

"The intensity from back to front [was missing]. I don't think they wanted it more than us but we were not fluid and dynamic as wanted to be.

"It was a great occasion and we wanted to win the game, the atmosphere was incredible but we take a point and a step closer to qualification which is our goal.

"There were only 20,000 in and it is a shame we could not get a win for the fans.

"It leaves us with four points and we know we might have enough. We want to win the game on Tuesday against the Czech Republic.

"John McGinn is an annoying player to play against, a great player and we should have done more tonight."

  6. 'England didn't look up for it'published at 22:09 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England were warned enough. Plenty had been warned enough saying it was going to be a battle, it was going to be a fight. People were saying you had better be at 100% and if you're at 100% you'll probably win. They weren't 100% were they? They weren't up for it like the biggest cup final they've ever played. Whereas you look at the Scotland players and they were exactly like that.

I don't think it's a shock or a surprise. There was enough warning there, but they couldn't really get themselves up for it. Time after time, week after week, game after game we expect them to bring their A-game and sometimes it doesn't happen. They didn't look up for it and apart from Grealish at the end, you weren't really that scared for Scotland.

  7. 'Scotland bossed England'published at 22:07 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Scotland carried a massive threat. The problem with Scotland is scoring goals. They were unlucky on a couple of occasions.

England played so slowly. They didn't have any ideas and they were second best tonight.

It was a poor performance by England and Scotland just bossed them.

  9. 'Not what we wanted'published at 22:02 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    England

England captain Harry Kane speaking to ITV: "Fair result, fair play to Scotland they defended well. It wasn't our best performance, but it's another point closer to qualification and that's our ultimate goal. We just have to recover and look forward to next game in a few days."

On being substituted: "It's part of the game, the manager felt that was the right decision so you just have o take it. It is what it is.

"It was a tough game - Scotland defended really well, made good blocks at the right times when we know no game is going to be easy it's a European Championship and Scotland are playing for their lives.

"We've got another big game in a few days against the Czechs, we want to finish sharp - it's a point, not what we wanted but it's one step closer to qualifying. One step at a time and we go again."

  10. Wrighty 'embarrassed'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    ITV

Ian Wright: "What's he taken Phil Foden off for? I was embarrassed for us today."

  11. 'Gilmour will be in every Scotland team for next 10 years'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I did mention Billy Gilmour when he went off. When he walked off after 82 minutes you've realised he will be in every single game that Scotland play probably for the next 10 years. He is that good. He is that controlled, and Scotland are that much better when he is playing.

If it wasn't for Billy Gilmour getting man of the match I'd give it Lyndon Dykes. He bullied top international players. He's won just about every single header He's chased everything down. He didn't seem to lose energy during the game as well.

  12. Postpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

Should Harry Kane start the next game for England?

    Thumbs up for yes.

    Thumbs down for no.

  13. 'A massive point for Scotland'published at 21:55 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Former Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Am I allowed to say I'm incredibly proud of those players out there? They were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish.

The bravery out there, standing up to a lot of world class players but they did not look fazed at any point.

You can learn a lot from what's going on in the stands. The England fans are leaving quietly while the Scotland fans are dancing, they are singing and they are roaring the players on. It is a brilliant moment for them.

It's only a point - but it's a massive point. Scotland wanted to come here and be competitive. You can't argue after that that they are anything other than competitive at this level.

Kit Tenant-Flowers: Southgate can have all the class and dignity in the world (and he does) and has done great things for the culture, pride and reputation of the England team but tactically he just isn't the one

Fr Chris Routledge: Scotland definitely the better team tonight. England will have to drastically up their game if they’re going to have any chance of progressing beyond the last 16.

  15. 'Scotland deserved to win'published at 21:52 British Summer Time 18 June 2021

    England 0-0 Scotland

    Chris Waddle

Scotland probably think they deserve to win. I thought they were the better team by far.

England did not do enough and did not deserve to win this game. Scotland will feel very disappointed.
