That's the end of this live text now, thanks for joining us today.

Is that the football over for the day? Of course not - now is one of the two top ties of this round on paper.

  3. Post update

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

This was the Czech Republic's first win in a knockout game in a major tournament since Euro 2004.

On that occasion they beat Denmark 3-0 in the quarter-final - the same opponent they face at the same stage this season.

  4. Post update

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

This was the Netherlands' first defeat at a major tournament since the final group game of Euro 2012.

They did not lose in 90 minutes at the 2014 World Cup (as they finished third) and didn't reach Euro 2016 or the 2018 World Cup.

  6. Post update

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

The Netherlands are the first side to win all three group games before losing in 90 minutes in the first knockout round.

  7. Post update

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

Netherlands captain Georginio Wijnaldum to NOS TV (via Uefa): “The goals we gave away, the chances we didn’t take; all that goes through your head. After the red card we found it difficult to put them under pressure. Things just got more difficult for us.”

  8. Post update

    FT: Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

Former Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong on ITV: "There was no belief after the first half, it was gone. There was no belief to go forward and win the game. There was lack of belief, intensity, character and we lacked a proper leader."

SMS Message: The arrogance of England fans is breathtaking. Have we all forgotten that we only scraped past the Czech Republic earlier this week in a game which could quite easily have gone either way? And yet some are now talking as though we have this tournament won. The same fans, no doubt, who thought we had the WC won in 2018 until we came up against a half decent side. from Ady, Leicester

  10. 'It's a wake-up call'

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Former Netherlands defender Mario Melchiot on 5 Live: "Sometimes we have to understand we have to be happy with the things we achieve. Sometimes we over expect things and I think that's why we got beaten so hard.

"Sometimes it's a wake-up call. The tactical level how the Czech played was totally different. I always said the Dutch team never got tested on the back. Look at the goals they conceded. Tactically Czech Republic were ready, they set the team out and the energy level that they brought was incredible.

"They didn't play the way we know Holland like to play and that's because the Czechs played a system that was very difficult to break down and Holland didn't have the energy levels to compete with that."

Henri Colens: The mentality of the Dutch players was poor after the red. Heads dropped. De Jong was superb, but the rest gave up or ran out of legs. De Boer showed very little leadership during the drinks break. With Van Dijk the result is different.

Dan Phillips: Maybe this shows England deserve a bit of credit for their results? These sides aren't pushovers. This tournament's wide open for anybody who shows a bit of grit, determination, consistency. You can have an abundance of quality, but you need to be tactically spot on.

  12. Post update

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

The Netherlands failed to have a shot on target in a match for the first time since November 2013 vs Colombia.

It was a genuinely pathetic performance.

  13. Post update

    FT: Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

Former Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong on ITV: "It was a poor display by the Netherlands. There was a lack of intensity, aggression and mentality.

"Sometimes when there's a red card the team pulls together, but the Netherlands didn't do that. Today, it wasn't meant to be."

  14. 'Netherlands weren't smart with squad management'

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

    Izzy Christiansen

England and Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Firstly congratulations to the Czech Republic. I had no idea that they would beat the Netherlands in that way but fair play to them.

They are celebrating with their fans and I'm thinking you've got a quarter-final coming up - rest your calves!

They looked fit tonight and like they had more energy than the Netherlands. The Netherlands didn't rest any of their key players against Macedonia.

The high intensity that they've played, I wonder if they weren't smart enough with their squad management in that third game given that they had already qualified?

  15. Watch the clincher

The second Czech goal was missing from those highlights I posted a few minutes ago. Here it is...

  16. 'Netherlands didn't show Czechs enough respect'

    Netherlands 0-2 Czech Republic

    Dion Dublin

Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

They were better in all departments. They had better commitment. It was disappointing from the Dutch. They have all the talent in the world. We know how well they did in the groups and they put all these teams in front of them to bed. Today everything about them was never going to get them over the line. Not with this kind performance. Sometimes you have to give your fellow professionals a little more respect. I don't think they showed the Czech Republic enough respect tonight.

James Spencer: First big shock of the tournament. Netherlands punished for their arrogance. They thought the Czech's wouldn't win and underestimated them. Poor Dutch performance. Frank de Boer has to go now

Stuart Chaplin: This is more like the Frank De Boer that managed Crystal Palace.
