He was last man. He was losing his footing, the ball goes underneath him, he intentionally pulls the ball back with his left hand. Schick would have been in on goal one-on-one with the keeper. It is a twist. I had my doubts that being a yellow, I'd seen it given as a red. The centre forward was in on goal, now it's a different game completely.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Not a great 30 seconds for Vladimir Coufal.
His free-kick hits the wall and then he is booked for fouling Denzel Dumfries to stop a Dutch counter.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
That is the Netherlands' first red card in a Euros game since John Heitinga in 2004, also against the Czech Republic.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Good VAR work there.

The Dutch go down to 10 men.
Matthijs de Ligt slipped as he tried to hold off Patrik Schick and scooped the ball back with his hand to stop Schick.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Referee Sergey Karasev goes to the screen. I don't see how this isn't going to be a red card.

Should it be more than that? It's an intentional handball. I've seen players get a red card for that. Is he not the last man?
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
There's a red card check here now. I think he could go. He handled the ball to stop a Czech one on one.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Drama at the other end as Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt handles the ball on the edge of the box to deny the Czechs a huge chance. He's booked. But should it be more?
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
HUGE CHANCE for Donyell Malen. Should have bagged.
It's a brilliant run by the Dutch forward to spot a gap through the centre and go for it with a brilliant turn of pace. He tries to go round the keeper, who manages to dive on the ball.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Zoooom. Denzel Dumfries races onto another ball down the right but his ball into Donyell Malen is disappointing. An unmarked Malen could have been in there if Dumfries had got that ball right.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
That is only the second yellow card the Netherlands have received at Euro 2020 (also Marten de Roon v Austria).

He's not looking at him at all. Yes he catches him on the side of the face with his elbow but there's no malice. Heads the ball.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Pavel Kaderabek looks in a bit of discomfort but he's going to play on.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Twenty seconds after the restart we have the first booking. Denzel Dumfries catches Pavel Kaderabek with a stray arm to the head in the air. The Czech player needs treatment.
Netherlands 0-0 Czech Republic
Second half is under way. No changes at the break.

Not a bad game, but stumbled upon highlights of the absolute classic 2004 Euros match between these teams. V Nistelroy, Robben, Van der Sar, Davids, Seedorf versus Nedved, Baros, Podolski, Smicer, Cech. Stormer!

The players are coming out for the second half.

Simon Turner: No disrespect to the Czechs but I thought the Dutch would have had a grip on the game by half-time. Feels like whoever achieves some quality with their final
Criv: Pva sticking to that Holland left hand side like glue …
Willem Mevius: Blind is struggling a bit: he has a lot of experience and his passing is good, but the way the Dutch play 352 all defenders have to do a lot of running, and he doesn't seem to have the legs anymore...
