England striker Harry Kane to BBC One: "What a great performance in a big game.

"We were favourites, there was a lot of pressure and a lot of expectations. The performance was top-drawer. Another clean sheet, four goals, it was a perfect night for us.

"We're building on [clean sheets]. We have a great unit here from front to back. It's a vital part of winning games and tournaments.

"We've got a big semi-final coming up. We're on the right path.

"It's where we wanted to be. We set out a vision before the World Cup of what we want to achieve. We are knocking it off step by step. The World Cup was great but we fell short, we had a good run in the Nations League. We're in another semi-final.

"Now it's about getting over the line, the next step that we have got to do on Wednesday.

"We have more experience [than 2018]. We've been playing for our clubs in big games - Champions League finals, Premier League title races. We're looking confident. Hopefully we can continue that.

"The job is not done yet. There's a lot more football to play.

"It's always nice to score early in a game. It's a great feeling to help the team. There was a lot of talk about me and my performances. But I'm just ready for the next game and try to lead this team to the European final."

    FT: Ukraine 0-4 England

    Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

The whole game plan was unbelievable. This could not have gone any better.

But as we said after Germany, they've got to re-group and go again.

    FT: Ukraine 0-4 England

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

Another tick for Gareth Southgate - he has come up with another formation, he has put in Jadon Sancho and all his decisions again have worked perfectly. He is not influenced by what goes on outside the camp. He is making all of the decision and he is making all of the right decisions.

The next game is going to be so tough. You'll be playing a team who have something special about them.

  6. Who do England play next?published at 22:11 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

In all the madness of England scoring four goals, recording their biggest Euros win and booking their place in the semi-finals, I almost forgot to tell you who they play next!

It's Denmark of course, after they beat the Czech Republic earlier today.

It's at Wembley on Wednesday at 20:00 BST. Look, it's even been updated in our fixtures schedule!

  7. 'We're not settling for a semi-final'published at 22:09 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    FT: Ukraine 0-1 England

    England

England defender Harry Maguire, speaking to BBC Sport: "It is a great feeling. Back-to-back semi-finals at a major tournament is a great achievement. I don't want to be a party pooper. We have another big game coming up. We want to go further this time than at the World Cup. It is a great feeling that we are here and the way we have done it shows the progress we are making. Long may the improvement continue.

"We have great belief in the dressing room. The first half was tough. We got the early goal we wanted but they caused us some problems with their change of shape. The second goal settled us down a lot and from there we controlled the game. The third and fourth were deserved on the night. It was an impressive performance. We now have to rest and recover.

"It is hard to soak it up when you have another big coming and you know who you are playing and when. The dressing room will be a great atmosphere tonight and then we will wake up tomorrow and be focused again. This group are not settling for a semi-final, we want to go further.

"We spoke about being better on attacking set-plays. We've not scored one yet. We have two tonight. It was a great ball from Luke and I got a great connection. It is nice to chip in with a goal but the main thing is the victory."

Greg: Only 1 goal conceded by England in our last 11 internationals. Outstanding

Lolo Puti: Gareth Southgate, 2 major tournaments, 2 semi finals. Can't argue with a record like that. Let's hope he adds a final to that on Wednesday.

  9. 'Kane has a spring in his step'published at 22:09 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    FT: Ukraine 0-4 England

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

It is incredible the difference in Harry Kane. You can see he has a spring in his step. In the first minute of this game he picked up the ball 40 or 50 yard and pinged it and you thought, yes that will do. Then he scored soon after.

  10. 'Maguire a man mountain for England'published at 22:06 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    FT: Ukraine 0-4 England

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Harry Maguire looks so comfortable at international football. In an England shirt he looks like a man mountain to me. He comes out with the ball and picks the right passes. He always try to come out, bring someone to him and then play the ball and that is the difference, he wants to commit someone and that is the difference between him and other centre-backs.

    So there we have it.

England will play in their third semi-final at the European Championship, having previously done so in 1968 and 1996.

Gareth Southgate will be just the second England manager to take charge of England in the semi-final of both the World Cup and the Euros, after Alf Ramsey in 1966 and 1968.

This was England’s biggest ever win at the Euros, and their biggest win in the knockout stages of a major tournament.

  12. 'It's a joy to see'published at 22:04 British Summer Time 3 July 2021

    FT: Ukraine 0-4 England

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Gareth Southgate... What he's done with this team, the belief and the way he's changed the whole mentality.

The belief he gives the players, it's a joy to see, and they're repaying him with performances like these.

I am even more confident now. Biggest compliment I can give this side is I have never ever seen a side so composed. All the players coming on are impacting the game in a positive way, the manager is utilising the squad. Everyone is justifying their selection. They are hard to playa against.

We did every bit of the job right today. We ticked every box. Gareth will sit there and say what an evening. Now you have to fight over confidence but now is the time for us to get excited about that and the time for them to keep their heads down and keep confident.
