  4. Duffy urges Dumbarton not to fear Donspublished at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Aberdeen v Dumbarton (15:00)

It was only 12 months ago that Aberdeen returned from their training camp in Dubai and were shocked 1-1 at home by Stenhousemuir, needing a replay to progress.

However, Dumbarton manager Jim Duffy is not taking too much encouragement from that in their first meeting with the Dons in six years. That day Aberdeen scraped through the Scottish Cup tie 1-0, and Dumbarton hope to give them a similarly tough time this afternoon.

"We know it's going to be unbelievably difficult," Duffy told BBC Scotland. "You go to a club that not only have aspirations of beating Dumbarton but aspirations of winning the cup.

"It's a test for the players just to try and appreciate the difficulty of the game but without getting overwhelmed by it. Don't let it fear you. We've got to be able to relax and enjoy the occasion.

"People have mentioned the Stenhousemuir result to us - I don't see any relevance in it. If anything it might make Aberdeen more determined because they experienced that frustration last year. That would flag up that they can't be complacent or be off the pace."

    Hearts v Airdrieonians (15:00)

Daniel Stendel hasn't shied away from making bold decisions since becoming Hearts manager and today is another example of that.

Centre-back John Souttar makes his first start since the opening day of the league season after recovering an ankle injury.

Up front the newly-appointed captain Steven Naismith and Conor Washington are in to place Uche Ikpeazu and Ryotaro Meshino.

And Lewis Moore steps in for Oliver Bozanic in midfield as Stendel attempts to claim his first win as Tynecastle boss.

    Aberdeen v Dumbarton (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland

It is now 30 years since Aberdeen last won the Scottish Cup.

They are hoping today’s date with League One Dumbarton is a first step towards ending that long wait to get their hands on it again.

The Dons are fresh and raring to go after their winter break in sun-drenched Dubai, but Jim Duffy's Dumbarton will be aiming to rain on their parade by capitalising on any ring-rustiness from the Pittodrie men.

  18. Can Diamonds trump Hearts?published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Hearts v Airdrieonians (15:00)

Hearts don't have their troubles to seek with the club bottom of the Scottish Premiership and manager Daniel Stendel putting noses out of joint as he tries to revamp the squad.

The Jambos have a break from league woes today with a Scottish Cup tie at home to Airdrieonians, but their cup record against the Diamonds is drastic.

Hearts have failed to win any of the last six meetings in knockout competition, a streak stretching back 39 years.

With ex-Hibee Ian Murray now in charge of the League One Diamonds, could there be a shock on the cards?

Murray tells BBC Sportsound: "We absolutely believe we have a chance. I've heard it's a free hit for Airdrie, but I'm looking for the players to prove they are capable of handling the occasion."
