Tranmere switch it from right to left and Corey Blackett-Taylor is able to sprint at the Watford defence with a purposeful run. But the ball just sits up off the surface and he sends it over the top.

Joao Pedro has a half chance, but under pressure from a home defender and on the edge of the box, can only scoop it over the top for the visitors.

To be fair to both teams here, both are really trying to play this on the ground. When I saw the pitch I was expecting a game of just lump it and hope.

It's been OK to watch so far, just not too much for either keeper to do.

Joao Pedro had some good play down the left-hand side but he almost starting sinking into the sand on the far side, he had to take a different route!

Morgan Ferrier has looking lively up front for Tranmere - he's giving Watford some problems. Ferrier is going to have a good fight on his hands with Bayli Spencer-Adams.

Tranmere have got a plan and the players are following that through. Neil Danns is epitomising that - the ball goes over and he wants to win that battle in midfield with Watford's Quina and Dele-Bashiru.

A half chance for the hosts as Morgan Ferrier, who scored a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over non-league Chichester City in round two, does well to get some space and cross into the middle, but Corey Blackett-Taylor, the goalscorer of both the other two goals in that match, can't bring it under control and the opportunity is wasted.

Hungbo, operating largely down the left, has looked a handful in the opening 10 minutes.

It's the second balls for Tranmere, that's what they are trying to do. It's a bit of a change in system tonight - they have been playing two up top with Jennings alongside Ferrier, but now they've gone to a five in midfield, with Blackett-Taylor coming further out on this left-hand side. They know once the ball goes up front, those send balls are vitally important.

Quina is free on the right side for Watford, he gets the sand wedge out and tries to dink it to the back post, but gets too much on it.

Great start from Tranmere, hustling in and around the Watford players. Watford are thinking they have more time on the ball then they have and Tranmere are setting their stall out early and turning them out on this left-hand side where it's holding up in the sand.

Jake Caprice looks to play a dangerous ball into the Watford penalty area but Hornets goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann is off his line quickly.

At the other end the ball falls to Watford's Joseph Hungbo, but it is well blocked by 38-year-old veteran defender Peter Clarke, who began his career at Everton and played in the top flight for them.

It's like playing football on a beach tonight. Not a night for pretty football.

The more experienced players in the Tranmere side will know what it's about tonight. They'll know their role in helping the younger players in and around them.

They themselves will try and get in the faces of the young Watford players and try and your their experiences in key areas like set-pieces or putting them under pressure.
