  4. 'It's a good chance for Spurs'published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2020

    Spurs 0-0 RB Leipzig

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a massive game. We know Tottenham can score, they just cannot keep them out. Leipzig have not been round the block, it's new for a lot of the players this level of football so it's a good chance for Tottenham. They have players who can get the ball in the back of the net but they are going to miss Son tonight.

Angus Robb: Not sure why anyone has Spurs as favourites for this tie. They may squeeze the leg, but this isn't the team that qualified for the CL, and I'm not sure it will next term. Jose's just starting so they've nothing to lose.

Spurs v RB Leipzig (20:00 GMT)

    Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

They have not been that Jose Mourinho side yet. I don't think they have got that person in defence, they have not gelled. I think they have found a system now that Ben Davies has come back but realistically he will be looking to replace players in the summer and you would expect him to want four players in the defence.

Michael Hughes:I feel for Mourinho, but, sadly, almost predicted this. As it stands, the rest of the team have got to man up and deserve their inflated wages. Alli particularly. Our defence is shocking, too. Time for the team to honour the fans.

  19. Leipzig are favourites?published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2020

Spurs v RB Leipzig (20:00 GMT)

"Most people would have Leipzig as favourites," says German football expert Raphael Honigstein on last Thursday's BBC Football Daily podcast. "Two words explain that: Harry Kane [who is injured].

"[Leipzig] have depth and we now find out how good they are internationally. They are still a bit immature and not a side that can go into games knowing they will dominate, all the signs of a team that is growing."

German fans are always a colourful and noisy presence on Champions League nights and the followers iof RB Leipzig are no different.

They are packed into a corner of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and gave their team a rousing reception as they came out to warm up.

And - according to a welcome placard inside the stadium - they have travelled 1,025 kilometres to be here. Good geographical detail.
