GOAL - Everton 0-1 Man Utdpublished at 12:57 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    Leah Galton (21 mins)

She had already served Everton warning - but they failed to heed it. And now Leah Galton has threatened to spoil the Toffees' house-warming party by putting Manchester United ahead.

Not long after Ella Toone had blazed over after surging into the box, she makes amends by teeing up Galton who produces a couple of stepovers to create a yard of space and lash home into the roof of the net at Sandy MacIver's near post.

    Everton 0-0 Man Utd

There's plenty at stake as well as pride here in Everton's first game at their new home.

Both the Toffees and United are just behind Reading in the race for fourth place - with the top three well clear, those sides would love to be crowned 'best of the rest' so to speak.

It would be a major achievement for both Everton, who finished second-bottom last term, and United - in their first Women's Super League season, following promotion last year.

  3. CLOSE!published at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    Everton 0-0 Man Utd

Things are starting to warm up at Walton Hall Park - figuratively, if not literally, on a crisp February afternoon.

Manchester United's Leah Galton completely bamboozles the Everton defence to waltz into the area and lash in a dangerous low cross that the Toffees do well to scramble clear.

Everton then almost open their account at their new home as Inessa Kaagman smartly controls Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah's cross on the turn to completely lose her marker but United keeper Mary Earps makes a fine smothering save to keep the deadlock intact.

  7. Postpublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    Everton 0-0 Man Utd

Spare a thought for Everton's England defender Gabby George today - she was stretchered off in the first minute of Monday's FA Cup win at Bristol City and misses this landmark occasion.

Kika van Es is her replacement today - and she's had very little to deal with in a quiet opening few minutes at Walton Hall Park.

  8. Postpublished at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    Everton 0-0 Man Utd

It feels like a really special occasion here on Merseyside today - the sidelines are packed with spectators hoping Everton can christen their new home with three points.

But they know Manchester United will not roll over - the Red Devils won the reverse fixture 3-1 in December and are a point above the Toffees in the WSL table.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    Everton 0-0 Man Utd

Everton get today's action under way in their first-ever game at their new Walton Hall Park stadium.

Will Manchester United read the script or will they be the party poopers?

  11. New home for the Toffeespublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

Everton v Man Utd (12:30 GMT)

Many women's sides share grounds with men's clubs and up until today, Everton had been among them, having been based at Southport's Haig Avenue since 2018.

Before that, they had shared with fellow WSL side Liverpool and, prior to that, spent 15 years at Marine.

But now they have a home to call their own - Walton Hall Park, which they will christen today with the lunchtime visit of Manchester United.

Toffees boss Willie Kirk this week told BBC Sport that the move to a stadium less than a mile from Goodison Park would be a "great boost" for the Merseysiders.
