An odd evening in every way.

    Andreas Pereira (90 mins)

    Goodness me!

Alexander Schlager has a shocker in the LASK net as Andreas Pereira pops off a shot from a good 30 yards, a free-kick was taken quickly to find him, he lashed in the shot and Schlager just wasn't expecting it. Straight at him, he juggles it into the back of the net.

  3. goal

GOAL - LASK 0-4 Manchester Unitedpublished at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2020

    Mason Greenwood (90 mins)

What a weird game! Not great quality or intensity throughout and yet Manchester United have scored four excellent goals!

Tahith Chong makes this with another brilliant through ball, sliding in Mason Greenwood down the left channel. He sprints into the box, I thought he might not fancy it on his left foot as he doesn't change the angle but he instead batters in a shot which hits the near post, hits the far post and goes in.

    Trick shot.

    LASK 0-3 Manchester United

I've saved this up until the last minute but why are LASK called LASK? It's an acronym for Linzer Athletik Sportklub Siegfried.

Tahith Chong gets chopped down and that's a late booking.

LASK looking at needing a 3-0 win at Old Trafford to take this to extra time. If that game ever takes place, anyway.

  7. goal

GOAL - LASK 0-3 Manchester Unitedpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2020

    Juan Mata (82 mins)

That's another excellent goal! Fred suddenly turns into Cesc Fabregas, playing a beauty of a ball from deep right through the lines and into the run of Juan Mata.

He's onside, in on goal, and just slots home left-footed. All about the pass.

Obviously not important in view of world events. But watching a game of football played in an empty stadium is like eating three day old cold porridge.

There's a handball shout against Fred but it came off his chest as we enter the last 10 minutes. Both sides would shake hands on this now.

Scott McTominay having a niggle with someone in midfield - what diet has he been on by the way? The same one as Ivan Toney. He's doubled in size in about a year. Unit.

Bruno Fernandes is given a rest as Andreas Pereira comes on. Like for like.

    Or not...

Klauss winds up from a long way out, lets it go and it's a crisp strike - booming through the air but always heading wide.

Bailly might have clashed with Klauss as he went up for that header - doesn't look too good. He's going to hobble on by the looks of it.

We are 65 minutes in and Sergio Romero hasn't had to make a save. If it wasn't for the global pandemic rendering this match almost certainly pointless you'd say this has been a textbook away trip for Manchester United so far.

Daniel James has netted his first goal for Manchester United since August 2019 against Southampton, ending a run of 32 games and 2527 minutes without finding the back of the net in all competitions.

That's about a fifth of the time it took to reach the moon on Apollo 11.

United could pile on the goals now, LASK are done here. Odion Ighalo is in behind again, he's too strong for a defender but with just the keeper to beat he hits the base of the post.

    Daniel James (58 mins)

The drought is over! Daniel James has his first goal since August and it's a very nice one too. After 32 games without bagging James runs at the LASK defence, is able to cut inside a defender on to his right foot and then just pass it in from 18 yards. The keeper didn't move.

Great hold-up play from Odion Ighalo again, he lines up a pass for Scott McTominay, but his shot is straight at the keeper.

There's a ripple of applause akin to the announcement of a change of bowler at the Pavilion End on day two of a County Championship game at Northampton.
