    Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are seeing an awful lot of the ball, but haven't really been able to get star striker Vivianne Miedema in to the game much yet.

    Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Deva Stadium

Rachel Furness has been excellent since joining Liverpool in January and it was her through-ball which set Rinsola Babajide up for the goal. The midfielder has taken Babajide under her wing too, giving her guidance and passing on her experience. A big goal for Liverpool but can they hang on?

  5. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal

That's only the fifth league goal Liverpool have managed all season.

  6. goal

GOAL: Liverpool 1-0 Arsenalpublished at 14 mins

    Rinsola Babajide

This wasn't in Arsenal's script. Liverpool strike first and it's a really cool finish from Rinsola Babajide, who nets her first WSL goal of 2019-20.

She races on to Rachel Furness' volleyed pass over the top, has the pace to hold off Louise Quinn and calmly slots past the keeper.

It's pretty route one. It's pretty unexpected! Game on.

  7. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal, who won November's reverse fixture between these sides 1-0, have had the better of the early exchanges.

  8. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Liverpool defender Sophie Bradley-Auckland has been shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Jordan Nobbs, who dragged the subsequent free-kick wide of the target.

That aside, it's been a quiet past five minutes or so in Chester.

  9. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal's past two league games both ended in defeat, as they lost back-to-back WSL games against their title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

The Gunners can't afford any more dropped points in the title race after those results.

    Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal

Liverpool almost concede before the end of the first minute, as they give the ball away just outside their own penalty area, but Jordan Nobbs' strike for Arsenal is saved by the feet of Reds keeper Anke Preuss.

Out come the players under the lights, as 'You'll never walk alone' plays out on the stadium speakers.

There’s a decent turnout at Deva Stadium, which is well-known for being situated on the border of England and Wales. The press box is located in the (east) main stand, which is on the Welsh side of the line. Liverpool’s Mighty Red mascot is currently stood on the other side of the stand, which is in England. Unique!

  16. Team newspublished at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2020

    Liverpool v Arsenal (19:00 GMT)

Liverpool make just one change from the side that won 1-0 at Bristol City in their most recent league game, as Kirsty Linnett comes in for Wales' Rhiannon Roberts.

Arsenal are without Scotland midfielder Kim Little after she underwent "successful" surgery on a foot injury, while the Netherlands' Jill Roord is suspended, so England's Leah Williamson starts in midfield rather than at the back. Australia's Caitlin Foord remains away on international duty.

Liverpool XI: Preuss, Jane, Bradley-Auckland, Fahey, Robe, Bailey, Furness, Linnett, Charles, Lawley, Babajide.

Arsenal XI: Peyraud-Magnin, Maier, Quinn, Schnaderbeck, McCabe, Williamson, Nobbs, Van de Donk, Evans, Miedema, Mead.

Due to the pitch problems at Prenton Park, Liverpool have had to switch today’s home match to Chester, where the Deva Stadium will play host. Home of Chester FC’s men’s team, the stadium has a capacity of around 5,500 (seated). There’s plenty of Liverpool banners dotted about though, including this one on the gates at the car park entrance. Three of Liverpool’s last four WSL games have been postponed so this is their first match in 18 days.

  18. Can Arsenal close the gap at the top?published at 18:45 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2020

    Liverpool v Arsenal (19:00 GMT)

The pressure at the top and bottom of the Women's Super League is rising, as the business end of the season approaches, and tonight's game is set to have a bearing on both ends of the table.

Defending champions Arsenal are six points off the top and know they need to take full advantage of this - their game in hand.

Their hosts tonight, Liverpool, are out of the relegation zone only on goal-difference.

As Benedict Cumberbatch might say, THE GAME IS ON.

Good evening - cheers for checking in. Kick-off between Liverpool and Arsenal is around 15 minutes away.
