Lovely touch from Billy Mckay and lovely hit. That's the first time Allan McGregor has been tested in this game. Good save. He had to have a strong leg to get that away. The Rangers fans are starting to get frustrated - Rangers' final ball has been horrendous all day

  3. GREAT SAVE!published at 50mins

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

So close to a shock opener from the hosts after Joe Aribo dallies on the ball 30 yards from his own goal and is dispossessed by Don Cowie.

The veteran midfielder finds Billy Mckay inside the penalty box and the Premiership player of the month fires a low drive that is too close to goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who deflects it clear with his knees.

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

The second half has started the way the first finished, with the ball being played from one red shirt to another but to little effect from the visitors.

  5. KICK-OFF SECOND HALFpublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2020

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

County kick off the second half and the home side are half way towards a confidence-boosting draw against the second-top visitors.

What is alarming for Rangers is that lack of quality in the final third. Borna Barisic and Ryan Kent have put in some good balls, but that quality in front of goal is missing. It could be lack of confidence, or it could be lack of ability. I would have thought, given Rangers' fragile confidence, County would have been more in their faces

When you looked at the Rangers manager before their current run, there was an aura about Steven Gerrard and confidence that oozes out of him. When the camera pans on to him in recent weeks, he looks a bit lost. Looking at his body language, there is a difference

  11. HALF-TIME Ross County 0-0 Rangerspublished at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2020

If you could imagine a game between two sides low on confidence, this is it.

Rangers have dominated possession in the first half, but any efforts on goal they've had have been easily dealt with by goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw.

County have had a couple of half chances but are content to sit back and absorb it all and frustrate opponents who lack intensity and are not showing much of their greater quality.

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

Rangers haven't had too many efforts on target for all their pressure and, when Steven Davis fires in a powerful drive, it is straight at goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw.

Liam Fontaine has gone to ground. There are plenty of appeals from Rangers players. It's hard to tell without seeing the TV footage, but on first look, I think it would have been harsh to give a penalty for that

  14. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 36mins

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

Rangers have reasonable shouts for a penalty waved away by the referee after Ianis Hagi finds Matt Polster with a fine pass and the right-back's cross from the by-line is turned wide for a corner by the sliding Liam Fontaine. TV replays suggest it struck the former Hibs centre-back's arm.

Ross County just need a little more support from midfield. If somebody was running towards the penalty spot, they would have certainly got a good effort on goal from that Liam Fontaine header

  16. Postpublished at 34mins

    Ross County 0-0 Rangers

County threaten for the first time in some time, but there are no takers form Liam Fontaine heads a cross back towards the penalty spot.

  17. Postpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2020

The downpour has certainly made the game more scrappy in the last few minutes, which is suiting County more than Rangers.

Big chance for Alfredo Morelos as a high header finds the Rangers striker in behind the County defence just eight yards out, but the Colombian's first touch is poor and he is muscled out of it by Marcus Fraser.

Rangers showing really good patience in the last few minutes. Any time they get it wide, they're a real threat. Better from the visitors. If they continue to get it wide and get more crosses in, I'm sure they'll get a goal or two today
