    More cricket news now, and Yorkshire County Cricket Club have confirmed that their men’s team will return early from their pre-season tour to Mumbai.

    The squad, who were scheduled to return from India on Tuesday, 24 March, will now return to the UK at the earliest possible opportunity.

    Here's the latest from the British horse racing steering group on coronavirus: “British racing continues to be in close contact with the UK government and has been following their advice to continue with business as usual, subject to public health guidance.

    “We are seeking further guidance from the Scottish government after their decision yesterday to ban outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people to protect the resilience of critical emergency services.

    “Prior to receiving detailed advice from Scottish government, racing at Kelso on Monday will be behind closed doors. The number of staff and participants will be below the Scottish government’s figure of 500 for outdoor gatherings.”

    India's one-day international series against South Africa has become the latest high-profile cricket event to be postponed.

    It was announced on Thursday that the two remaining games, in Lucknow (15 March) and Kolkata (18 March) would be played behind closed doors. The two boards hope to reschedule the series.

    Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League franchise Twenty20 tournament is continuing, with some games being played behind closed doors and/or at different venues.

    However, the play-offs have been condensed to just two semi-finals and a final, with the final brought forward from 22 March to 18 March - while a number of overseas players, predominantly English or England-based, are leaving the tournament early.

    This weekend's games in the top two leagues of German football have been postponed.

    They were due to go ahead behind closed doors with the suspension starting on Monday. All league action has now been suspended until 2 April.

    National League statement: Following a Board meeting held today, the National League has decided to allow matches in its three divisions to proceed as planned this weekend.

    The National League will keep the operation of its competition under constant and diligent review, and will remain in compliance with government advice at all times.

    The Football Association has offered its guidance, and made it clear the decision to continue or to suspend a competition is a matter for each league to make.

    Plenty of people asking what sport they will watch now that they are dropping one by one.

    World Snooker say: "As it stands, our intention is that our upcoming events will go ahead as planned. This includes next week’s Tour Championship in Llandudno, and the World Championship in Sheffield.

    "However, we must consider all scenarios and we will follow government advice. The health and safety of our fans, players and staff is of course our priority."

    Race organisers earlier announced that Sunday's finale to cycling's Paris-Nice race has been cancelled.

    Now the Giro d'Italia has been postponed too. It was scheduled to start in Hungary in May but the country has declared a state of emergency.

    Race organisers say a decision on rescheduling the event would not be made before April 3.

    Some sport is set to be happening in the UK this weekend, though, with the Rugby Football League having said that "fixtures remain in place".

    But Leeds Rhinos will not be travelling to Catalans for Saturday's Super League game after one of their players showed symptoms of coronavirus.

    Salford Red Devils, who host Wigan later (19:45 GMT), have asked supporters to "avoid unnecessary physical contact with each other and players".

    The RFL added in a statement: "At all times the RFL has followed and is following the Government's guidance as requested."

    An Inverness Caledonian Thistle first-team player is currently in self-isolation after showing some of the symptoms associated with coronavirus.

    The Scottish Championship club are awaiting the results of tests on the unidentified player.

    He did not train with the rest of the first-team squad on Friday morning.

    There have not yet been any confirmed cases of the illness in Scottish football but all matches were postponed earlier on Friday amid the outbreak.
