To answer my own question, the Well keeper mistimed a punch clear, then bundled into his own player. I wonder if he is having trouble with his vision? He'll be praying his defence in front of him can hold on

Into the last 10 minutes we go. Will Motherwell - and Ally Maxwell - hold on? United's 428th high ball in the last few minutes bounces through for a corner...

Another brilliant goal. It's a great ball in from Dave Bowman, and a great finish. I think we're in for an interesting last 20 minutes.

Twenty five minutes to go and Motherwell are two goals to the good. Surely there's no way back for United now?

It's a tremendous goal. The ball comes in and Patterson and Clark go for it. It breaks kindly, but how brave is he here? Look. Oh, there's heads going, feet and everything going there. And he was as brave as a lion.

A Davie Cooper free-kick is floated in from 35 yards towards the back post caused problems for John Clark, who could only head the ball into the middle of the danger area. With feet and bodies flying, O'Donnell hurls himself at the ball, taking a whack for his trouble, to send the ball thumping into the net.

Just moments after Maxwell's injury and 10 minutes into the second half, Dave Bowman crashes in an equaliser for Dundee United.

It came from a quick counter-attack as Motherwell were almost in at the other end. However, within 15 seconds the ball breaks to Bowman on the right of the box, and his daisy cutter slices across goal and into the far corner under Ally Maxwell who is clearly in agony.

    Game. On.
