And we have our first goal of the Scottish Cup final, Motherwell grab it!

What a header this is. Jim Griffin is fed down the right before swinging in an inch-perfect ball. Iain Ferguson is unmarked as he bounds into the box to meet the cross, rising high to thunder his header high into Alan Main's top right corner.

The Motherwell players are in a heap on the touchline, a sea of claret and amber limbs cascade down the terracing at Hampden.

Thirty minutes in and still goalless. Motherwell building momentum, but will there be a breakthrough before the break?

It's clear the Tannadice side have settled the better of the two. They are starting to show signs of intent, but it's all a bit frantic. Craig Paterson's header well over the bar the closest they've come to an attacking threat.

I was at the game between these two in April [1-0 win for Motherwell], but I don't think you can take much from that, both were a little cagey.

Freddy van der Hoorn, my word. A free-kick from 25 yards is scudded towards Ally Maxwell's goal. The Well keeper is beaten but his right-hand post saves him, with the ball bouncing across the line and away.

This is all United. Jim McLean will be the happier of the two siblings you'd suggest so far...

My oh my, the ball is in the net already after just a minute. Hamish French breaks through on to a Jim McInally pass and slots under Ally Maxwell, but the goal is disallowed. The flag appears to be for Darren Jackson, rather than French.

    What a whirlwind start.

    And here come the teams.

Jim McLean, left, leads out Dundee United while brother Tommy walks his Motherwell team on to the Hampden pitch.

A poignant moment for both men today, whose father sadly passed away in the week running up to this final. I'm sure he will be in the thoughts of both men this afternoon.

Motherwell captain Tom Boyd will have his thoughts this afternoon. Rumours are that a move for the left-back could be coming, with Chelsea tipped to get his signature. He said: "We just want to win at all costs. There's no pressure or anything on top of that.

"This will probably be my last game for Motherwell. I just want to win and go out on a high note.

"We will be trying to get the ball to Davie Cooper, we will see if that materialises."

Motherwell wing king Davie Cooper has also had his say: "I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be a big crowd and it's the game at the end of the season everyone wants to play in.

    "I'm delighted to be here."
