    France 1-0 Argentina

Enzo Perez pulls away from the defence but is just beaten to the ball by Hugo Lloris. Perez was offside anyway.

    France 1-0 Argentina

Lots of possession for Argentina but they are doing little to hurt France where it matters.

They need to get Lionel Messi in the game more but he looks a little lost in the deeper role he is playing. Absolutely wasted.

Will: This Mbappe kid looks good.

  5. Postpublished at 21 mins

    France 1-0 Argentina

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann stand over the ball and it is the former who takes it but fires just over the bar.

  6. Postpublished at 19 mins

    France 1-0 Argentina

France go long quickly and Kylian Mbappe again turns on the afterburners - the 19 year old is terrifying the Argentina defence. Brilliant first touch by Mbappe before he is brought down just outside the area by Nicolas Tagliafico.

  7. Postpublished at 17 mins

    France 1-0 Argentina

Touch of fortune there as Argentina win a corner as Angel di Maria gets away with a poor header. Di Maria fires the ball into the box but fails to beat his first man.

"Awful" is Danny Murphy's assessment of that set piece. Fair.

  8. Postpublished at 15 mins

    France 1-0 Argentina

Argentina's players looked nervous in the opening few minutes and that goal will not have helped calm them. They need to settle soon or else this could get messy very quickly.

    Danny Murphy
Former Liverpool and England midfielder on BBC One

He hasn't really put it in the corner, but he doesn't have to, because the keeper moves early. Griezmann gets the goal but Mbappe deserves the credit.

    Advantage France!

Antoine Griezmann, cool as you like, tucks the ball into the bottom left-hand corner with Franco Armani having dived the wrong way.

  11. PENALTY TO FRANCEpublished at 10 mins

    France 0-0 Argentina

    What is Marcos Rojo thinking!?

France break quickly as Kylian Mbappe powers towards goal, Rojo panics and pulls over the France forward.

VAR check, penalty stands. Big moment for France...

Oof! What a chance! Antoine Griezmann rattles the woodwork with a superb free kick. Keeper was well beaten.

    Big let off for Argentina.

    France 0-0 Argentina

Slightly scrappy, nervy start to the game. A foul on Lionel Messi gives Argentina a free kick but it comes to nothing.

This game is yet to spark into life.

Argentina supporters are absolutely incredible and they started early this morning. There are some wonderfully gifted footballers on the pitch and I'm really looking forward to it.

    France v Argentina (15:30 BST)

Wow! The Argentina fans are loud and proud as they belt out the national anthem, a little smile on Lionel Messi's face. They certainly have the 12th man, but will the players do the business on the pitch?

  19. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 4 April 2020

Superb atmosphere now with kick off moments away. The stage is set for Lionel Messi to do his thing, or could it be someone else who makes the headlines?

Andrew from Elgin: Looking forward to this since I was at the game. My brother had a good laugh at me when my first ticket turned out to be for Egypt v. Saudi Arabia - less so when my second one turned out to be for this match! Argentina may have lost on the pitch but their fans definitely won off it.
