    Say what?!

  5. 4. England 1966published at 14:57 British Summer Time 16 April 2020

They won the World Cup, but this shirt is voted as only the fourth most iconic among you lot.

The long-sleeved red Umbro shirt in which England beat West Germany 4-2 to win the World Cup in 1966 is a classic.

Sir Alf Ramsey's side only wore red at Wembley that day because the Germans won the toss to wear white. It's still a shirt loved by Three Lions fans and worn regularly more than 50 years later.

Festival Football shirts: My favourite football kit has to be one of the shirts worn by these brilliant blokes. Absolutely devastated we won’t be able to add to the collection this summer!

Jon: Amongst all these Italia '90 classics, Italy's Diadora home shirt has to get a mention. Mostly for the way it was worn by Baggio as he slalomed his way to THAT goal.

Ralph: Any love for Carlisle's 94/95 "deckchair" kit that we took to a packed Wembley for the Auto-Windscreens Shield final? Iconic.

Carl and Rhys: Your comment about football shirts at Glastonbury has got us all teary eyed, Ellie! There's nothing quite like stumbling across someone in a 1994 Swansea City away shirt at 3am in a muddy field. Summer 2021 can't come soon enough!

Kevin O'Brien: A year ago today, Aberdeen player & former Burnhaven School pupil Connor McLennan presented Burnhaven Munich FC with our new kit, based on Nigeria’s one. We wear black shorts & socks to make it our own. So it’s Nigeria for me but title will need to be shared...

Paul McGovern: That Nigeria kit is the most overrated kit of all time! It’s terrible. A few great ones in there, but always liked the Germany 1990 kit.

Cliff Dye:Arsenal '91 is best. Highly original and everyone grew to like it.Belgium '84 is the worst. Looks like a golfer or a Pringle pullover that old men used to wear!

  11. 5. Nigeria 2018published at 14:45 British Summer Time 16 April 2020

Nigeria took the world by storm with this release for the 2018 World Cup.

Fans queued for hours outside Nike's flagship store in London to get their hands on one, and with three million pre-orders of the replica shirts, they sold out almost immediately after they were released.

Another one that divides opinion. How do you rate it?

Des C: I'm a Liverpool fan but would like to mention Aston Villa's European cup winning shirt from 1982 and Spurs Fa Cup winning shirt from the same year - there's something about white football tops.

Martyn Williams: The 80's Guinness Adidas QPR kit! Legendary, and equally awesome in the iconic blue and white hoops, or Dennis te Menace away kit. I'm sure Andrew Ridgeley even wears it in a Wham video.

Brendan: Celtic 1967. Such an iconic shirt for a once in a lifetime team. No one wore it with more pride than Billy McNeill.

  16. 6. Celtic 1967published at 14:32 British Summer Time 16 April 2020

Just missing out on your top five, this famous shirt was worn by Celtic's 'Lisbon Lions' when they wrote their name into the history books with a 2-1 win over Inter Milan in Portugal to become the first British team to win the European Cup.

Pé: Arsenal 1991. Bruised banana. Their away kit this season inspired by those kit are not bad either. It gives them a modern and fresh look. In fact, all 3 of Arsenal's kits this season are top 3 in the world.

Andrew Martindale: England 1990! Got number 19 put on the back too for our Geordie boy who did good! Netherlands 1988 is nice too though.

Sacha Rangasamy: My personal favourite is the 1983/84 Liverpool strip (my first ever kit!), but the West Germany, Holland and Denmark shirts are all iconic memories from my school days!

Arsenal's 'bruised banana' has to be one of the most legendary top-flight kits of the 1990s - if not ever.

So popular, the Gunners used it as inspiration for their 2019-20 away shirt.
