You're looking at nearly a four-minute wait between the ref giving the penalty and Harry Kane taking it. No idea what was going off there.

John Stones then tangles with Radamel Falcao. A proper fight out there!

  4. Kane flyingpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

    Colombia 0-1 England

Harry Kane is the first player to score in six consecutive England appearances since Tommy Lawton in 1939.

    Colombia 0-1 England

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Tottenham and England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I don't think the referee is having a good game but he got that decision right. David Ospina has dived early and Harry Kane has placed it straight down the middle. England deserve it but the referee is spoiling the game.

World Cup 2018: Harry Kane puts England ahead from penalty spot

Captain Harry Kane stays as calm as you like! Such a long wait to take that penalty and he clips the spot-kick right down the middle.

Six World Cup goals. As many as Gary Lineker scored in Mexico in 1986.

This has no place. No place. England can't get drawn into this.

I've no idea what this is all about really. The penalty has been given - GET ON WITH IT. Colombia's players still swarm around the referee.

Harry Kane is being made to wait and wait and wait to take this penalty...

    Plenty of antics.

It's not difficult, but it's been coming. I don't like to use the word stupid, but in this tournament we are seeing stupid decisions from players.

  11. PENALTY TO ENGLAND!published at 16:06 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

Harry Kane is held by Carlos Sanchez, he's dragged to the deck and it's a penalty!

  12. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

England corner. They line up the four-man bob routine, the referee is right there telling Colombia to cut it out...

  13. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

    Colombia 0-0 England

Ashley Young delivers nicely, Harry Maguire looks like he's free to nut England ahead but Davinson Sanchez nods it out. Superb defending!

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

    Colombia 0-0 England

Colombia right-back Santiago Arias barges Harry Kane as the England man goes up for a header. Bit of a harsh booking.

We are getting lulled into playing around at the back - you've got to try things now and again. Risk the ball.

That tweet from earlier was pretty much spot on. England were bright and sharp in the first 20 minutes but since then have gone a bit stodgy. Colombia seeing more of the ball.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

No messing here, bad news for my tea round plans. Under way!

    Dele Alli is still on.

  18. 'Colombia happy for a scrap'published at 15:57 British Summer Time 26 April 2020

    Colombia 0-0 England

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

The interval arrived with the game descending into an ill-disciplined mess and England clearly feeling Wilmar Barrios should have seen red for a head-butt on Jordan Henderson before a free-kick.

Colombia are happy to make this a scrap. England need to avoid that.

This has been a World Cup last-16 game with little quality but the size of the occasion and the prize on offer, a quarter-final against Sweden, means it is an occasion gripped with tension.
