A classic Twitter exchange in response to our Match of the Day tweet. Jon J's stubbornness and Nick's attempts to explain the rules are admirable.

Jon J: Zidane is better than all of them even though it was in 1998.

    Nick: Zidane isn’t a striker....

Jon J: Still won a World Cup final by himself.

Nick: Again the question is best striker...

Jon J: And again I really don't care.

Raashman: The result I have most issue with from the round of 32, is Larsson > Mandzukic, especially with 77% of the vote. I went for Mario on that one.

While we're talking strikers, Shane Long has just signed a new two-year deal at Southampton. He'll outplay us all.

  9. Match 7published at 12:00 British Summer Time 4 June 2020

DoctorJokier: Cristiano is the best player of all time, so it stands to reason that he is also the best European striker. Won the league in 3 countries, won 5 champions league, A European Cup, and scored 20+ goals in the EPL, La Liga and Serie A.

  11. Match 6published at 11:58 British Summer Time 4 June 2020

    Francesco Totti v Cristiano Ronaldo

Another hospital pass of a draw for Totti here. A magician and a one-club legend but he'll have to pull off an almighty upset to shade this one.

Chuzzawozza: Villa every time. Costa was a beast, but Villa contributed to Spain's international glory, played his part for Barca AND didn't cause problems in the dressing room/for the manager - so he'd get the nod for squad harmony.

    Factoring squad harmony is brilliant.

  15. Match 5published at 11:53 British Summer Time 4 June 2020

    Wayne Rooney v Henrik Larsson

A match-up who DID play alongside each other, albeit very briefly.

Who was the better striker though?

  18. Match 4published at 11:50 British Summer Time 4 June 2020

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic v Alan Shearer

Another duo that I would have liked to see play alongside each other! A right handful.

This is very tough to call. Zlatan has 271 league goals in the top five leagues while Big Al has 260.

Plus some pre-Premier League of course. Call it a draw.

  19. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 4 June 2020

If all of Zlatan's clubs get on board he'll walk this.
