Disappointing finish from Josh Dasilva, who met a cross with a swivelling volley but dragged it wide of the West Brom goal. Could have made it 2-0.

Shandon Baptiste has shown some really neat touches down the left, linking up nicely with Rico Henry there.

    West Brom must stay alert.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Really sharp work down the left from livewire Said Benrahma and Shandon Baptiste wins a corner.

Brentford right back at it after the stoppage.

Win a free-kick on the right after trickery from Bryan Mbuemo... it's cleared.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 69 mins

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Water break time. A useful chance for Thomas Frank to chat through things with his players.

He is animated, enthused, vocal. Pointing and prompting as his players suck on energy gels and water.

Couple of changes in the offing too - Tariqe Fosu comes off and is replaced by Bryan Mbuemo - following a bout of coronavirus - and Shandon Baptiste replaces Emiliano Marcondes.

Brentford are still a goal to the good, but the response from West Brom has been spirited.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

It's admirable from Brentford to pursue a 'pure' form of football in playing out from the back but West Brom's fervent press is forcing errors - and handing cheap possession.

Jake Livermore is off and Rakeem Harper is on, as Slaven Bilic makes sub number three.

Matheus Pereira again zips forward and slaps a low shot which David Raya does well to shield low down.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

West Brom look far more compact and settled defensively in the second-half.

Where the home side were finding pockets of space and time in the opening 45, there are no such gaps now.

It means they can soak up the Brentford possession and attack with more confidence, but the goal eludes them so far.

Said Benrahma 'Bergkamp spin'-ned a pass in midfield to evade a marker, something beautiful in an otherwise mundane passage. Brilliant from the Bees.

It was the first respite for the home side after waves of Baggies attacks.

Josh Dasilva then drove forward down the left, outpacing Jake Livermore but his cross was cleared behind, and the corner came to nothing.

Referee Keith Stroud engages in a bit of a dance with West Brom's Grady Diangana in the midfield, and gets nutmegged for his trouble.

Slaven Bilic is raging about a free-kick call that didn't go his way, the fourth official a rather chastened character right now.

Ball being unloaded into the Bees box, Krovinovic looks to drill the ball across into the six yard area but it's stubbed behind.

It's pinball at the moment, West Brom turning the vice lever.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Thomas Frank is rushing about his technical area, as Brentford have loosened their grip on the match flow and pace.

West Brom moving the ball about well now, shifting the point of attack and keeping the home side honest.

We've got a game on our hands now.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Brentford have lost a bit of the slickness, and Emiliano Marcondes has earned himself a booking with a lunge on Filip Krovinovic.

It came after he'd dawdled on it.

West Brom flood forward, Matheus Pereira has imposed himself on the game and slips the ball wide left to Grady Diangana, who slams it over the bar.

Much, much better from the Baggies.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 53 mins

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Almost a perfect first opportunity for Kenneth Zohore, who is picked out on the edge of the Brentford box, turns and smacks a shot against the bar.

It spoons up and over but that's better for the Baggies.

They look to have a bit more zip, unsurprisingly.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

David Raya clips a ball straight to Matheus Pereira... who is chopped down before he can cause any menace to Brentford.

From the resulting set-piece, the ball is thudded into the body of Ollie Watkins. Yet, Emiliano Marcondes is the one who goes down off the ball.

    Play is stopped. A mystery.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Already you can see the introduction of Kenneth Zohore has given West Brom a new presence to aim for up front.

Meanwhile, Rico Henry galloped down the left for Brentford but his cross was cleared.

The resulting play saw a wicked ball in from Christian Norgaard, inswung, that Ahmed Hegazi did well just to nick away from Ollie Watkins.

  13. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Brentford try to get Ollie Watkins away off the bat with a throughball but Semi Ajayi was the roadblock.

On the back of that Matheus Pereira drove forward and fizzed a shot over the top.

A little tester, a little warning for Brentford.

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Here we go then. Second half is off.

Last pep talks from Slaven Bilic to his players, Kenneth Zohore is coming on. Matt Phillips off. Filip Krovinovic is also on for Hal Robson-Kanu.

Bit of extra firepower up front.

Brentford unchanged as we understand it.

What do West Brom need to do better in this game?

The midfield is going to be the key battleground again, as both sides have largely defended satisfactorily. Getting hold of the territory there will help the visitors in getting the ball to stay up top.

Brentford made the most of the wide channels, and you'd like to see West Brom do the same, through Matt Phillips and the full-backs Kieran Gibbs and Darnell Furlong.

Ollie Watkins scores for BrentfordImage source, Rex Features

Ollie Watkins' goal is the difference at half-time between these two Championship promotion chasers, as Brentford have shown their quality against league leaders West Brom.

Thomas Frank's side have nailed the game plan, attack with numbers, defend with cool, break with pace.

West Brom desperate for a foothold. They looked more cohesive as the half wore on, but not many concrete chances to show against a resolute opponent.

Big 45 to come in West London.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 45 mins

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

Christian Norgaard goes into the back of Matheus Pereira and earns a booking for his trouble.

The Bees not known for 'enforcement' but that was industrial. For all their intricacy...

  20. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Brentford 1-0 West Brom

West Brom show a lack of patience in attack there, as Matheus Pereira - having seen his little chip headed away and won back - tries an ambitious ball wide which flies out of play.

David Raya does a fine job of claiming a cross on the left and a big punt picks out Said Benrahma in space alone.

It was almost a case of too much time for the Bees, as they fluffed the opportunity.

Into three minutes of added time.
