It's admirable from Brentford to pursue a 'pure' form of football in playing out from the back but West Brom's fervent press is forcing errors - and handing cheap possession.

Jake Livermore is off and Rakeem Harper is on, as Slaven Bilic makes sub number three.

Matheus Pereira again zips forward and slaps a low shot which David Raya does well to shield low down.

West Brom look far more compact and settled defensively in the second-half.

Where the home side were finding pockets of space and time in the opening 45, there are no such gaps now.

It means they can soak up the Brentford possession and attack with more confidence, but the goal eludes them so far.

Already you can see the introduction of Kenneth Zohore has given West Brom a new presence to aim for up front.

Meanwhile, Rico Henry galloped down the left for Brentford but his cross was cleared.

The resulting play saw a wicked ball in from Christian Norgaard, inswung, that Ahmed Hegazi did well just to nick away from Ollie Watkins.

Brentford try to get Ollie Watkins away off the bat with a throughball but Semi Ajayi was the roadblock.

On the back of that Matheus Pereira drove forward and fizzed a shot over the top.

The midfield is going to be the key battleground again, as both sides have largely defended satisfactorily. Getting hold of the territory there will help the visitors in getting the ball to stay up top.

Brentford made the most of the wide channels, and you'd like to see West Brom do the same, through Matt Phillips and the full-backs Kieran Gibbs and Darnell Furlong.

Ollie Watkins' goal is the difference at half-time between these two Championship promotion chasers, as Brentford have shown their quality against league leaders West Brom.

Thomas Frank's side have nailed the game plan, attack with numbers, defend with cool, break with pace.
